The Westmeath Amateur Talent Contest ( WATC ) is hosted each year by Temple Villa AFC. The club's motto is "Keeping Youth Onside" and the contest is organised primarily to
provide an opportunity for young people to perform on stage, gain experience in front of a live audience, receive feedback from a panel of judges, and hopefully go on to use their
talent and entertain wider audiences.
Not a single individual involved in the running of the contest gets paid 1 cent for the time and effort that they put into the contest - the MC, the stage crew, the sound & lighting crew,
the ticket office and floor crew - no-one.
Any monies earned goes towards the development of playing facilities in Temple Villa's homeground in Mount Temple. We have also raised money for worthwhile charities such as 
St.Lukes Cancer Research and South Westmeath Hospice.
Through our contacts in the local music industry, we have a growing number of sound recording studios that offer their facilities and sound engineering skills towards recording solo
and compilation mini CDs for the contest winners, and as many of the finalists as possible. Grouse Lodge Recording Studios and The Sound Training Centre are our principal sponsors.

Temple Villa are now accepting entries for the 2012 WATC Talent Contest.

Many of the contestants sing cover versions of well-known artists songs. The use of any backing tracks is not intended to infringe on any copyright, and the ownership of the music remains
