Different Shades is a Malaysian DJ based in Melbourne. She is an extensive part of the multidisciplinary collective LOADING_ERROR and is also one half of the techno duo Concealed. She has been making waves around Melbourne's scene with a brand of diverse musical selections ranging from dubby, deep and emotive, to more bass-heavy and hard-hitting styles. She is perpetually shaping her sound to create a dynamic experience on the dance floor. To date, she has supported revered international acts including Pariah, Matrixxman, San Soda and Adriana Lopez. She is also set to perform at her very first festival when she takes to the stage at the upcoming Hopkins Creek festival in late November.

After launching their own De Stijl label last year, Artefakt are back on Delsin with Icarus, a sparkling new four track outing. The Dutch live-act and DJ duo formed by Robin Koek and Nick Lapien put out their Kinship LP on the label in 2017, picked up real acclaim for their intricate sound design and deep yet hard hitting grooves. Always serving up atmospheric music that is artful and filled with rich detail, they continued on their own path once again here.

Starting with the smooth and hypnotic, stripped back grooves from Icarus. Followed by the cavernous and immersive ambient trip Ganzfeld Effect. The darker Vapour is still heady and meticulously crafted with deft little details, a rich sound field and supple techno drums getting you in the zone. Delphic then offers crisp breakbeats, dubby drums and electrically charged synths that are physical but emotional. It's another perfect fusion of light and dark, thoughtful and physical techno from this ever impressive pair.

Hey Lovers, Fans and Haters, 

„When The Circus Comes To Town“ is a track I made in 2019. It’s about some of the things that went wrong (in my opinion) in the so called Techno scene, before the pandemic forced us to press the Pause button. 

When listening to it now, it maybe sounds kinda strange. On the other side, I think the risk of falling back into bad Business Techno habits once the situation is under control is quite high. 
I personally still hope some things will change in a positive way, 
for artists, venues, labels and music fans. 

„When The Circus Comes To Town“ was supposed to come out on an amazing label from France. I was super excited about this. 

But then my external external HD broke. Even though I was able to restore some stuff, a lot of files remain broke.  
Among those destroyed files were also many many files from 
my DAW, so a lot of unreleased and unfinished stuff I made in the past years 
is probably lost forever. 

That sucks, but I’m gonna record new music - for the French label and for you.

So I decided to upload the (of course unmastered) Mp3 of „When The Circus Comes To Town“ to my SoundCloud and make it a free download for you out there.
