Jim Burton formally known as "Jay" was born and raised in Houston TX. At the age of three his Aunt adopted him and his two younger brothers due to a apartment fire. Jay's Biological mother and father separated at the age of six. While dealing with biological parents in and out of his of his life , he had behavior problems in school consistently year after year. Jay soon started going to alternative school and getting worse in his behavior. After getting into a altercation with a family member Jay went to juvenile for a day. "My eyes started opening up after seeing and hearing things that night", Jay was slowly changing. Growing up with mentors , Jay slowed down. His Cousin introduced him to christian rap,"G.R.I.T.S. was the first christian rap artist I heard." Jay started looking into more and more christian rap artists and found Lecrae. With Jay being influence by christian rap and Aunt as a Minister, he started getting into religion (Christianity) more. Jay and two of his cousins started a Ministry named"S..M.A.S.H Ministries. Jay has dedicated the life that God gave him to letting God speak through him to the youth and young adults to draw them away from worldly way and bring them in ministry,"S.M.A.S.H is more than a Ministry to me, it's my life." Jay will continue motivational speaking and bringing God's Word everywhere he goes.
