Somos un grupo de 4 que nos gusta la poesía y usar el rap como medio de expresión. Creemos en el hip hop y todos sus elementos como arma de organización social y crecimiento personal.
DeMentes es fundado en la comunidad de Watsonville 2 años atrás al ver una carencia de rap alternativo al del mainstream.
Nuestras líricas son en base a nuestra experiencias como trabajadores del campo, estudiantes migrantes, estudiantes indocumentados, experiencias de racismo, machismo, queerness, feminismo, indigenismo, justicia social, pobreza, automotivación, humanismo…
Como no creemos en competencia de a ver quien rapea mejor que quien, o quien dijo algo que no es correcto en el ámbito justicial social o intelectual optamos por no caer en esos juegos. Somos DeMentes con todos y sus errores, defectos, ganas de superación personal y comunitaria y amor por la música alternativa. Por otro lado aceptamos sus comentarios constructivos.
No nos afiliamos a ningún partido o religioso o movimientos políticos . Como lo repetimos nuestras ideas son en base a experiencias personales y creemos que nuestras ideas y sentires están en constante movimiento por lo cual tal vez hoy pensemos que es verde y mañana rojo.
Lo que si sabemos es que venimos desde abajo con el corazón bien puesto en los beats del tambor y con un chingo de ganas de compartir nuestros experimentos líricos.
