Inspired by the relationships architects and dancers share with gravity, “In A Dialogue with Gravity” explores the connection between architecture, dance, and its people. In the second act, “Matisse’s Gardens,” the forms, colors, and space of Matisse’s famed cutouts forms the foundation for this contemporary ballet.

We came up with the quirky beat and then went searching for some samples that would fit. I immediately thought of the Big Lebowski. But we'd also been talking about the Netflix show Midnight Gospel so we pulled in some clips from that as well.

What a wonderful tune Seagull sent me to collaborate on.  His nylon-string and bass playing is lovely but he asked if I could help with a second guitar voice.  The Taylor JKSM seemed the perfect fit with its sweet steel-string acoustic voice.  The undercurrent of meaning in the song is best described by Seagull himself:
"The song is called Stairway, and I realized that it reflects everyone's climb in life. We are encouraged and taught from birth that we must constantly get better at everything. Better upbringing, better behavior, better education, better job, better pay, better things, better health, better parent, better home, better car and so on...But what is the real goal of all this striving? Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with education hopefully producing better and more understanding and empathetic people, and a safer and nicer society. But.....and I think it's a big but.... as we are obviously being trained to buy all the happiness we need in life instead of experiencing it in a peaceful, healthy and experiential life." 
It is a question of what is ultimately important in our life and are we willing to make the climb to reach and attain it.  Something to ponder while you listen:)

Bruce Klepper is a Colorado based composer with thousands of listeners worldwide. Klepper studied music composition in the 1970's and received a degree in music composition and theory.  After writing music for many years and starting a tech company based in Colorado, Klepper retired in 2014 from business so he could devote myself to his true passion, composing music. Klepper's music premiered in Carnegie Hall, September 2022.  Klepper writes music in a number of different styles, including contemporary classical music, jazz, soundscapes using field recordings, ambient music, and ballet music.  Klepper has been composing music for Danse Etoile Ballet (www.danseetoile.org) since 2016. Klepper has been collaborating with Parlando School of Musical Arts (www.parlando.org) faculty Britta De Groot and Sergei Govorov for over a year now, composing and arranging new music for the dynamic piano and saxophone duo to premier around the United States.
