Dear Stan

This is actually the third version of the song. I felt the original idea I’d roughed out with the keyboard and computer could be more interesting. So I reworked the whole track again (twice) adding several ‘hooks’. These were some vocal ‘stabs’, some keyboard/synth riffs as well as writing ( what I hope ) is a more interesting bass line. I beefed up the drum section too. I hope the fun I had creating it is reflected in the overall vibe of the track. Having said all this, the question is: did it actually work?

Former biathlon Olympic champion Laura Dahlmeier has died on 28th July 2025 while climbing in the Karakorum. A rockfall hit her at high altitude at Laila Peak while she was on the road with her rope partner. Rescue operations were greatly complicated by the dangerous situation.

This tune was supposed to be published with another title and with vocals. It was not finished yet, neither was the life of Laura.

She is an icon of folk music, she played her guitar upside down and backwards, and she served Don a fried chicken dinner when he got an opportunity to meet her in her home in Alexandria, Va.  In return he tried to teach her the Gary Davis tune "Candyman".  Don's roots run deep in folk music, not in just his knowledge of the genre, not just in the vintage instruments he owns and plays with deft skill, but in having encountered the artists themselves in live and personal settings. Recorded in 2021. remastered.  I have to have a new way to play the piano. My sister and my son are doing that. They are working out a way to bring the piano to my hospital bed. I can no longer sit up, even in my powerchair. It's too uncomfortable and hard to breathe. I don't have functioning back or abdominal muscles, and I can't lift my head off my chest unless In laying back. Only my arms and hands are semi-functioning. My thumbs are going bad. I can't pull a zipper. I won't be able to play as well and I don't know how I'll work the sustain pedal - but I'll do my best! 😊🎶🎹🎶

Bruce Klepper is a Colorado based composer. Klepper writes music in a number of different styles, including contemporary classical music, jazz, soundscapes using field recordings, ambient music, and ballet music.  Klepper has been composing music for Danse Etoile Ballet (www.danseetoile.org) since 2016. Klepper has been collaborating with Parlando School of Musical Arts (www.parlando.org) faculty Britta De Groot and Sergei Govorov, composing and arranging new music for the dynamic piano and saxophone duo to premier around the United States. Klepper's music premiered in Carnegie Hall, September 2022.  Klepper's music can be heard on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and SoundCloud. 

Klepper studied music composition in the 1970's and received a degree in music composition and theory.  After writing music for many years and starting a tech company based in Colorado, Klepper retired in 2014 from business so he could devote myself to his true passion, composing music.
