I was quite fascinated by Jo's poem. See below for the lyrics.  I added the full text back in after chopping up some elements of it to create this soundscape, and when it the words sit on top they line up in some very interesting serendipitous ways.

she kept wondering about all those photographs
that show flowing hair and wide, wind-swept robes
until she understood: those ropes connect halves
of a self that's caught and its dasein-based scopes

what is my real size if it's not epidermical skin?
the reach of my voice? my status, hierarchical clout?
my environmental footprints, global, within?
my life's agenda? some will being lived out?

what is my true reach into psyche, space, time?
which pasts do shape my tribulations and loves?
she thought of herself as a poor poet's rhyme,
as a reflection of life in a stock photograph.

a stranger wave of understanding hit her
when she unfolded into the moment -
she was not singled out, her whole world was with her
she was connected in a well-worn arrangement

of events manifest: she yelled out with joy:
birds nest in my hair, my feet walk the ground
this self tried to bind me, this gravitational ploy
but beyond all that hassle, spins a world that is round

As far as the 'everyone look at your hands line', that is a good one. I use that one, along with, 'hey, your boots are untied', or 'hey, what is that on your shirt'? Then, that is when I strike!

Bruce Klepper is a Colorado based composer. Klepper writes music in a number of different styles, including contemporary classical music, jazz, soundscapes using field recordings, ambient music, and ballet music.  Klepper has been composing music for Danse Etoile Ballet (www.danseetoile.org) since 2016. Klepper has been collaborating with Parlando School of Musical Arts (www.parlando.org) faculty Britta De Groot and Sergei Govorov, composing and arranging new music for the dynamic piano and saxophone duo to premier around the United States. Klepper's music premiered in Carnegie Hall, September 2022.  Klepper's music can be heard on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and SoundCloud. 

Klepper studied music composition in the 1970's and received a degree in music composition and theory.  After writing music for many years and starting a tech company based in Colorado, Klepper retired in 2014 from business so he could devote myself to his true passion, composing music.
