Pablo Arrangoiz, a man of many monikers, has quite a few experimental releases as well as some dance floor treasures under his belt. His work navigates unholy experimental sounds, spooky atmospheric endeavors, clownish takes on Bach’s canons and much more. The Gurner, released under his new alias Baüzer Vep, fits the bill perfectly: it induces you in a dream-like, slightly nightmarish state, but does so with irony and without neglecting grooves.

For its first release on new label DISCOLIDAYS, The Reflex tackles two underground disco cuts remixed from the original multitrack for the very first time.

‘The Voice of Q’ is a leftfield electro disco gem originally released in 1982 on Philly World records. Produced by the studio team behind the label, the track has become a cult classic but had never been remixed from the stems until now. The Reflex brings it up to date with the added discovery of a pre-vocoder vocal and a full rap vocal that were left unused in the tapes, highlighting the funk bass to the max while pushing the cosmic vibes envelope even further.

‘Everybody Loves a Good Funk’ is a rather obscure ghetto disco-funk produced by none other than John Davis (of the John Davis Orchestra fame) that was recorded at Sigma Sound studios in Philly in 1980 for the Midsong International label. Heavy synth bass, super punchy horns and a devastating groove make up for one hell of a dancefloor killer revision. Again remixed strictly from the tapes for the first time, The Reflex gives this Ruth “Silky” Waters track the shine it always deserved.

With both tracks running at 118 bpm, this release will speak to a wide range of DJ’s and music lovers, from the disco-house contingent to early electro disco fans alike and beyond!

Berlin-based Ombra International love all things post-punk and Italo disco, and they continue to represent that fusion in style on their 21st release. First up HLM brings a heavy wash of synths to 'En Ecailles' before Tony Y Not get into a twanging new wave vibe on 'How About Lily'. Kimshies has a sleazier sound to offer up, while Rees pushes all manner of vintage arpeggios at the behest of 'Lucifer's Tango'. That leaves it to Endrik Schroeder to finish the set with the atmospheric 'Rainy Days', a perfect tribute to washed out 80s post-punk with a strong dose of disco pumping in its veins.

They lived in darkness most of the time, it was all they'd ever known. Here, the sun only shone for a few hours a day before night took hold and they were bathed in the dark once again. It drained the energy from the village, flattening the mood and dampening people's spirit. On the other hand, the light brought with it hope, hope that someday they'd find something beyond this existence - and they'd cling on to that feeling for as long as they had to.

Ransom Note Records alumni Natasha Bai is starting her own label, Друг (Droog) Records. For the first release, the DJ and producer welcomes Oberton, the musical pairing of Eldar Mukhomedzyanov and Alexei Vainer whose output matches infectious electronic beats with spoken word. С​в​е​т​о​т​е​н​ь, is made up of three tracks that introduce us to their signature style. On our pick, closing track 'Оторопь', the duo ruminate on the "anticipation of fear, a feeling of incoming conjectures and experiences", and tells the tale of the disappointment that comes from a one-sided love story, but in the face of rejection always continuing to have hope.
