The Poet

My double single "Despedida / Viaje a Cusco" is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all the other usual places via the link in my bio and stories. This little project is dedicated to my parents and my sister, who I haven't seen in over two years. It is a reminder of what we have been through as well as a little thank you for all the sacrifices they have made for me to be here today. 

Despedida, the first piece, is about our last day together. It is explaining to my 9-year-old sister that I am not abandoning her and that I will do my best to see her soon, it is hugging my parents and grandparents for the last time until who knows when –because if there's something that these times have taught us is how uncertain life is– and it is crying silently on the line of security at the airport because I miss them already. 

Viaje a Cusco, the second piece, is about the farewell trip we made to Cusco before my departure to Spain. One of the activities we have always enjoyed doing as a family is traveling, and that last trip is the one I hold closer to my heart. I remember hiking together to magical places such as Machu Picchu or the Rainbow Mountain, finding an old French piano in a tiny, cozy restaurant, walking through the lovely streets of San Blas, riding the train to Aguas Calientes, visiting the Maras Salt Mines, and much more. 

This project features artwork by Sabatina Leccia, and it was recorded in Valencia by the incredible Ricardo Curto and released by @bigoandtwigetti. You will make this Peruvian boy really happy if you have a listen, share it around, and add it to your playlists. Enjoy! 🌞🌿

This time for Daigo's rework of 'Seis' (originally written by Hiroko Murakami), he recorded the track through his newly modified DIY preamps and a pair of echo machines.

The space and the timing between each notes are carefully calculated and played while the echoed sounds are generated somewhat unintentionally with the tape flutters, this track gives its listeners a whole new experience and perceptions of the instrument and also gives the glimpse of Daigo's musical world.

Sometimes the universe has its way of reminding you of what’s important in life. You get caught up in all your bullshit, and then, one morning, you wake up and suddenly hit that point which truly makes you take a step back, look around, and reassess everything you have been “building” up until this moment. That nagging, stressful, and upsetting thing right over there? Well, that can wait. Perhaps you’ll get to it another day. And if not, well, it will still be there. But for now, you can give yourself permission just to breathe. In and out. Ah… That’s so much better. Thankfully for me, I have this thing that I call music, which I can turn to for an hour every morning and spend some time, like with a friend. And in the end, this post with words that you are reading right now is just my way of sharing those precious single moments with you, when we can simply breathe. Today I am spending sharing my time in the company of a Norwegian composer and pianist, Ole-Bjørn Talstad, who just got signed to the beloved Moderna for his debut, titled Ferd. The album collects eight miniature solo piano pieces that add up to just a bit over 19 minutes in length, and their elegant, intimate, and emotional narrative truly resonates with every cell of my being. As I do with most solo piano compositions, I listen to them in my headphones. This somehow transports me to my own recording sessions in front of an upright piano and close-placed microphones next to the hammers, slightly caressing the strings through the felt. Suddenly, just as I felt with one of my favourite records by Otto A. Totland, it’s as if I’m playing this music myself. I’m hearing the music the way Talstad is hearing it. One simple note at a time. And in between the keys, in all of their ease and purity, is where I find my peace. I hope that you will find yours too.

Bruno is an Argentine pianist, producer, and classically trained composer based in Barcelona who writes for strings, piano, and electronics. 
In 1998 he started as a producer for ad21, a personal label that has released the majority of his albums. Although he also collaborated on several projects with the labels 7K!, Moderna Records, Thesis, 1631 Recordings [Universal/Decca], El Muelle Records, and Dronarivm, among others. In 2024, Bruno, as a co-owner, embarked on a new chapter by opening ad21's doors to pianists from around the world.
His Piano Textures series, started in 2007, is one of Sanfilippo’s most representative set of recordings, but he has also gained wider recognition in modern music – one of his piano compositions formed the basis for rapper Drake’s seminal hit, ‘Started From The Bottom’.
In addition to recordings available on streaming platforms, Sanfilippo has a series of solo and collaborative albums that are available exclusively through Bandcamp, some of which were released by American labels in physical format between 2008 and 2012.
Sanfilippo regularly performs at various live and multimedia events, and at festivals all over the world.
