It is an absolute delight to announce @daigohanada's new LP Satori, which we'll release in March of next year. It's hard not to overstate how special Daigo is as a person and musician ; his care and thoughtfulness shine through every interaction and every note chosen on the piano, synth or organ. He's been writing material for Satori over the last couple years and the collection of 13 pieces is an intimate invitation into his world, infused with hopeful melodies and a soulful vulnerability. Like a drop in the ocean, this track has a pressing delicacy capable of disrupting, with the slightest of the movement, the impetuosity of the sea. The piano notes seem to sing an ancestral story that reaches directly to the listener's soul. A state of uncertainty, between the cheerful and the mournful, permeates the entire experience of the track.

This time for Daigo's rework of 'Seis' (originally written by Hiroko Murakami), he recorded the track through his newly modified DIY preamps and a pair of echo machines.

The space and the timing between each notes are carefully calculated and played while the echoed sounds are generated somewhat unintentionally with the tape flutters, this track gives its listeners a whole new experience and perceptions of the instrument and also gives the glimpse of Daigo's musical world.

Sometimes the universe has its way of reminding you of what’s important in life. You get caught up in all your bullshit, and then, one morning, you wake up and suddenly hit that point which truly makes you take a step back, look around, and reassess everything you have been “building” up until this moment. That nagging, stressful, and upsetting thing right over there? Well, that can wait. Perhaps you’ll get to it another day. And if not, well, it will still be there. But for now, you can give yourself permission just to breathe. In and out. Ah… That’s so much better. Thankfully for me, I have this thing that I call music, which I can turn to for an hour every morning and spend some time, like with a friend. And in the end, this post with words that you are reading right now is just my way of sharing those precious single moments with you, when we can simply breathe. Today I am spending sharing my time in the company of a Norwegian composer and pianist, Ole-Bjørn Talstad, who just got signed to the beloved Moderna for his debut, titled Ferd. The album collects eight miniature solo piano pieces that add up to just a bit over 19 minutes in length, and their elegant, intimate, and emotional narrative truly resonates with every cell of my being. As I do with most solo piano compositions, I listen to them in my headphones. This somehow transports me to my own recording sessions in front of an upright piano and close-placed microphones next to the hammers, slightly caressing the strings through the felt. Suddenly, just as I felt with one of my favourite records by Otto A. Totland, it’s as if I’m playing this music myself. I’m hearing the music the way Talstad is hearing it. One simple note at a time. And in between the keys, in all of their ease and purity, is where I find my peace. I hope that you will find yours too.

With the occasion of the re-release of his original score for the theatrical play "Zyklon", Manos Milonakis finds himself in Kópavogur, Iceland and together with violinist Björk Óskarsdóttir they record an outdoor live version of the "La Forza del Destino", based on the original theme by Giuseppe Verdi.

Single to be included in "Zyklon" OST, coming out later in 2023.

Sometimes I can't tell if my mood is driving the music I'm playing, or if the music is influencing my mood. I think it's a little of both. But this Saturday morning, I'm waking up to another gentle day. The city is peaceful just behind my curtains, like a frozen postcard from a moment stuck in time. Only the clouds seem to move, announcing the passage of hours. I turn back to music, to feel something 'changing', and with it, emotions, perceptions and senses are all that I know that are signs of my 'life'. Today's soundtrack to the imaginary narrative is a piece by Richard Luke appropriately titled "Silent Story". This track originally appeared on Luke's 2019 release on Moderna titled Glass Island, and today we are honoured with a rework, this time accompanied by short thumping bass, and gorgeous string passages courtesy of Amira Bedrush-McDonald. This piece is taken from an upcoming EP, featuring additional reworks by Daigo Hanada, Aisling Brouwer, Jakob Lindhagen, Halftribe and Anna Pluto. I hope that it starts off your quiet May weekend, as it has revealed all that's real in mine.

Daigo Hanada spent his youth as a basketball player, but after an injury halted his athletic career, he struggled to find his new path in life. It was then when he discovered the beauty in music and he turned to the piano as a medium to voice his inner solace. He taught himself to play the piano at age 23 whilst not knowing how to read or write sheet music. Since then, he was discovered by Moderna Records in 2016, and grew to be a critical and commercial phenomenon, reaching over 70M streams across tracks and charting in Japan’s most played pieces on Spotify in 2019.
