"Provence, moun païs.
This one-hour soundscape is an invitation to visualize and feel. It begins with a walk in the garrigue, passes through a village, and a few others, and when night falls, I wanted you to feel the mistral let out of control on your skin.
It goes to meet the elders, and in a time when identity is at the center of preoccupations, I wanted to get back to the essential: We all belong to a decor, this one is mine. So, this mix is a very personal way between traditional and folk music from Occitanie and Provence, field recordings from anthropologists and musicologists works, the 70’s novà cançon occitana, and contemporary tracks that remind me of the south and the mediterranean. I worked this mix as a visualization experience, in a very personal and intimate way.
Close your eyes and grab my hand, I'll show you where I grew up!"

Welcome to Episode 211 on Poisonoise Music with this mix coming in 
from Finnish based artist Liuos.
Liuos seemed to arrive on the dub techno scene all at once with Terms EP, his strong debut on Cold Tear Records, but this was the culmination of two decades of experimentation and discipline. A unique mix of power and spaciousness, of both longing and will, Liuos’ work stands out for its clarity and expansiveness. 
Working steadily from his modest studio in Finland, Liuos has quietly become a respected name in the world of dub techno, with releases on Cold Tear, Lucidflow, and spclnch, and remixes for Superordinate Dub Waves and Off Records (Belgium).

Composed for the space at ZiMMT studio zimmt.net/, spatialised on a dome of 32 speakers.
Some recordings of ice soundscapes were taken from the very generous archive of the Finnish Broadcasting Company freesound.org/people/YleArkisto/.

The piece was spatialised using SpatGris starting from the material of the stereo composition. The Binaural Downmix was rendered from that spatialisation.

Headphones are necessary for the binaural version.

Avsluta is a London-based producer, DJ, live performer and curator. While her output is diverse in both her live performances and DJ sets alike, it most often taps into the realms of ambient, downtempo, UK-bass and off-kilter deep techno, navigating the liminal spaces between ambient and dance music. 

She runs Introspective Electronics, a platform featuring regular radio shows, podcasts and co-curated live events. Together with the London-based DJ and producer Alicia, she co-curates progressive club experience series Terra Obscura and in collaboration with AMOENUS, she co-organises Sonic Garden, a series of outdoor experimental ambient and downtempo happenings.

Our second journey into the frontier is curated and mixed by legendary artist and head of one of the most celebrated Dub Techno labels on the planet - Kenneth Christiansen.

Kenneth has been djing all over Europe the last 2 decades, playing clubs like Fabric, Berghain, Tresor,  and at Festivals like Sonar, ADE & Dimension. Running the 3 labels Echocord, Echocord Colour, Echo Echo and Pattern Repeat with Resoe. 

A true Pillar of the Dub Techno Scene, someone who has been pushing the boundaries of the genre through his label and his DJ sets for many years. It's an honour to have Kenneth showcase his sound for us.

The Frontier 002 - Kenneth Christiansen

Was vertreibt den Flaschengeist, den Hausgeist, den Geisterfahrer auf der A2?
Was hilft bei Rüb- oder Trübsal, Hals- oder Herzschmerz, bei Trauer und Trägheit?
Was hilft bei Fieber, Furcht und kalten Füßen?
Wie vertreibt man die Gewohnheit und den gemeinen Silberfisch? 
Was hilft gegen die Schlaflosigkeit und das allabendliche Wälzen? 
Was tun gegen den Wels im Bett?

In den letzten zwei Monaten habe ich mich mit Menschen aus Oberhausen und Umgebung über magisches Denken und Aberglaube unterhalten. Dabei habe ich versucht, möglichst vielfältige Perspektiven einzubeziehen und unter anderem mit Wissenschaftler*innen, Künstler*innen, Hexen, einer Altenpflegerin, einer Zahnärztin, einer AI-Ingenieurin und einer Anhängerin der neureligiösen Wicca-Bewegung gesprochen.
Denn welche Vorstellungen als Aberglaube definiert werden, wird immer von einem Diskurs bestimmt, der für sich beansprucht vernünftig und rational zu sein. Das „Andere“, das Kuriose, das Irrationale, das nicht nach den Regeln der Vernunft funktionierende wird als Aberglaube gekennzeichnet und entwertet. Doch auch viele Handlungen und Entscheidungen in der scheinbar rationalen Gegenwart lassen sich ebenso wenig begründen wie Magie.
