I don't know if these pauses are for the documentary, but they are so effective...they really make me feel like I'm holding my breath.  NIce improv.

This is a very beautiful piece, Bryan. I'm like you and find improvisations flow much easier than compositions. Most of my compositions are improvisations that are thoroughly worked out, memorised and transcribed. I find thinking compositions in a different way to improvisations stunts the natural flow of the music, some people have a nack of hearing music in their head and writing it straight down on paper. I've love to learn this skill some day, but for now my compositions are parts of improvisations memorised then transcribed. I'm learning to listen as I play so I can memorise my improvisations better to turn them into compositions later. Thoroughly enjoyed the piece! Bravo! :)

I thought I had commented on this track, but I don't see it. This piece keeps appearing on my Dashboard as people I follow favorite it. this is music which has come to peace. There is clean sentiment, not sentimentality. It's a hit.

Mist  River Of Life

This composition is based upon an experience. 
In my youth I often hiked and camped in the Chiricahua mountains of Southern Arizona. On one of these hikes I was following a trail that was leading me to a summit of a mountain. It was a Spring day and a storm was coming up the canyon. The trail was steep and the canyon was very deep. At first I heard deep thunder, and then again closer. Then delicate rain drops fell as sheets of rain allowed me to perceive the great chasm that was before me. The sun illuminated the flowers at my feet through the turbulent clouds as raindrops diffracted the light into rainbows on the petals of the flowers. The smell of life and rain mixed with color and energy saturating my senses. I was in the presence of that which could never be named. And I was the only human there to witness this. I will never forget.

This track  represents a production workup and new arrangement of an early composition from my Waterfall album. All the tunes on that album are undergoing rewrites with 30 years of added perspective.

I brought out the bass line, recorded a new piano part and added some enigma swirls and mallet rolls... mmmm mallet rolls.

This piano improvisation was for a documentary project I helped produce called "Flashes of Light" the "Helen Brush" story - Helen was the first female news photographer in the US who worked for the LA Daily News during the 30's and 40's. The man in the photo was Helen's husband Gib - who helped her get her start. Helen and Gib had 4 children - the second and third daughters died in childhood. Gib eventually succumbed to alchoholism and Helen was a single Mother raising the two children that survived. This music was used as an underlayment of some of the documentary "demo". It's completely improvised and is still in "demo" format. Recorded on my Kurzweil PC88.
