Three young, likeminded musicians offer peace, quiet and reflection in uncertain times.

Three voices become one in Mudita, in the spirit of the group’s name: the buddhist term for joy in other people’s well-being. In the spirit of the times, these three young offer a restful experience amidst chaos, with the silence of nature as an important source of inspiration. Through improvisation they discover unknown qualities of their instruments, creating a unique atmosphere with each concert.

Sanne Rambags uses her voice as an instrument in Mudita, sometimes through lyrics and poetry and often as pure sound, alongside Koen Smits’s trumpet and Sjoerd van Eijck’s piano. With their first album Listen to the Sound of the Forest they won a prestigious Edison Award in 2019, receiving praise in the jury’s report: ‘A simultaneously enchanting and challenging concept album that treads far beyond the boundaries of a safe music landscape.’

Dutch high flyers cast new light on the immortal bebop of Charlie ‘Bird’ Parker, who would reached the age of 100 this year.

The jazz world is buzzing, celebrating the 100th birth year of the Charlie Parker! Dutch drum hero Eric Ineke pays homage to the man behind the bop and swing he grew up with. “Absolutely a genius,” he says about the great alto saxophonist who they called Bird. If a classical musician can’t avoid Bach and Beethoven, then a jazz musician can’t avoid Charlie Parker, says Ineke.

Special guest Tineke Postma, proves that Bird’s songs are as energetic, melodic and timeless as ever. An international star herself, Tineke has performed with the likes of Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. Together with the Eric Ineke JazzXpress she presents a new album at the BIMHUIS, full of music by Charlie Parker: What Kinda Bird is This?

Her passion for drums led her alongside many steep paths and winding roads, but in the end Sun-Mi Hang landed in Amsterdam. From out here the conquers Europe with her inviting music en her challenging style of playing, that’s both progressive as well as rooted in tradition.

Renowned Dutch composer celebrates his birthday and love for jazz with The Wellingtonians, the Swinging Strings and Wolter Wierbos.

On his 90th birthday, Theo Loevendie presents a feast of music featuring The Wellingtonians and Swinging Strings, a collective of wonderful string players and jazz musicians. His orchestral and operatic works are performed all over the world, but in the 1960s and 70s he played saxophone in jazz bands. The band will play both new and well-known compositions by Loevendie.

Theo Loevendie is mainly known as one of the most adventurous post-war-composers in The Netherlands. Connecting classical and traditional music from various cultures, he has won many awards. Later in life he started playing piano in jazz clubs, to play his own pieces with respected jazz musicians.

Jazz with subtle classical influences by internationally renowned pianist Juraj Stanik, known for his close collaborations with Toon Roos and Ack van Rooyen.


Pianist Juraj Stanik played countless gigs with internationally established musicians. He collaborated intensively with Toon Roos and Ack van Rooyen and he has shared the stage with Benny Golson, Chris Potter, Pat Metheny and many others. He’s also a well-respected solo pianist. ‘Wow’, his third trio-CD, sounds fresh and open, influenced on the one hand by modern jazz heroes such as Herbie Hancock and Mulgrew Miller, and on the other hand by classical composers such as Chopin, Debussy and Bartók.

The pianist will present his new album Inside Out (Challenge Records) at the BIMHUIS together with his well-respected partners, double bassist Frans van der Hoeven and drummer Roberto Pistolesi. Special guest is the young rising star saxophonist Gideon Tazelaar.
