Owner of a sonority that encompasses an insightful combination of influences from the likes of Kraftwerk, Daft Punk, Moroder, Soulwax, and Vitalic, Dombrance has been shaking the world with the energy of his live concerts, the elegance of his suits, and the gravity of his moustache. 

The skilled French multi-instrumentalist and live electronic act finally kicks off his 2024 release season with a stunning collection of gems: Featuring two fangy originals and eight fabulous remixes made with love by a true dream team of collaborators, “Double Trouble”, coming soon on Disc-o-lypso, represents the end of his 5-year cycle of naming his songs after politicians in order to “create characters and give a fun visual identity to each song”, according to Dombrance himself. Talented visual artist Olivier Laude was the chosen one to bring to life the graphics for the interesting concept.

Dombrance explains the titles of “the final bouquet”: First, "'Bayrou', who thought he finally came to power with Macron, but had to leave the government barely after entering it, indicted for embezzlement of public funds", and second "'Copé', who disappeared suddenly from circulation after publicly mistaking the price of a pain au chocolat." – Music & politics, dinosaurs like this combination.

On board the “Double Trouble” bus, François K, Lindstrøm, Daniele Baldelli & Dionigi, Rigopolar, DiskJokke, Freudenthal (SXDNS063) (with two, not one insertion), and Josh Ludlow spared no efforts and brought the best of their games for the occasion. Premiered here, the latter’s contribution.

The rising and competent London-based producer, with well-received previous appearances on Defected, Distrokid, XCESS, Soundway, and Disc-o-lypso itself, used breakbeat and acid elements for his take on “Copé” and the result is a frenzied cosmic early-Electro-infused cut as peak-time as the original. Kudos!

Melodies linger like ghosts, speaking the language of the lost, Berlin’s newborn baby Ghosting Corporation hails from unhealthy breakups and unanswered text messages, with tunes made for places where loud sound systems and lonely spirits meet. The night is there to evade those negative feelings of emptiness and exchange them for a brief moment of body movement.

GC first reference, titled “Enter the Wild” is stuffed with elements brought together to create a mix of percussion, groove and excitement, an after midnight fiesta combining Anastasia Zems’s massive vocal talent with what label’s creator, Mike Sacchetti had envisioned probably influenced by a tribal dance he saw in a movie and a long bike ride home. Both stepped out a bit from their living room couch to deliver something fresh to the sound of Indie Dance. 

And as if it wasn’t confusing enough to your expectations, two special guests came to spend the evening at the remix department: the France-based Moroccan rooted artist Zaatar widens the sound spectrum while spitting out cosmic dust with a slow builder re-interpretation piece of “The World’s a Dream”, ultimately to hand it over to Berlin’s established producer Radial Gaze to properly fuel the rocket with an acid energised version just tailored for the peak time enthusiasts.

Pumped up and ready for the dancefloor, Elninodiablo turns in a flavourful and playful joint as his debut release for NEIN Records. Injecting further exhilarating levels of joy and bounce into his blends, the Berlin based producer treats us to a smörgåsbord of club
optimized groovers in 'Infinitely Venus'.
A quartet of feelgood chuggers designed to contrast with the bleak state of the world as we experience it, 'Infinitely Venus' draws deep into the late 70s / early 80s period with its fun loving mix of VHS glitch, space discoey vocoder, en vogue trap rhythms and cleverly collaged film samples. Coming off unfiltered and unbothered by the limitative genre segmentation, this ufologic new package from Elninodiablo takes all the good, joyful stuff and bends it into a wholly new effusive object, freed from normative standards and boring etiquette. All newbeat drums and frantic cowbells blazing, 'Infinitely Venus' conjures up the finest of The Asphodells' spaced out mindset and that propulsive EBM thrust to have you lifted off to tropospheric heights in a flash A flickering tapestry of mutant textures and envelopes floating in zero G motion as bass arpeggios lead the charge, here's one hybrid roller for the transitional hours of the day, when night fades into day and day fades into night. Churning out a further shape shifting grid of drum laden punch, rhythmic intricacies and overly erotic breath, 'Gone Gollywood' is just as soulful as it is outrageously fun and sexy. Here, Elninodiablo's 360 vision flourishes in all its unhindered exuberance and restless oomph. Draped in layers of Kraftwerkesque vocoded talk, processed seesaw and sticky analogue squelch, 'Acid Girl' feels like a lucid dream turned
robotic floor anthem, and it shall not only get droids to boogie down. Back to a further cosmic jazz minded buildup and Weatheralian headspace, 'Jellyfish Albino' puts on the afterburners and flies us off to distant, uncharted musical lands, where Afrofunk informed percussions, bleached out motorik and viscous Califunk synth vibrations reign supreme and topped off with an electro twist.

Moderna's arresting debut album on her own Brave New Rave has been in the works for seven years and was written across sessions in Berlin and Mexico City. It is an exploration of Berlin's influence on techno, dark disco and queer culture that takes in a diverse array of influences and inspirations from the music of Prince to a collaboration with post-punk artist Skelesys via electro, dark wave and more. PREMIERE: Moderna - The Future is Among Us [Brave New Rave]

Over the past decade the French duo of Tepat Huleux and Giac Di Falco, aka You Man, have made a name for themselves on the underground disco scene with their stunning live shows, Huleux's hypnotic visuals created and releases on labels such as as Tronik Youth’s NEIN and Eskimo Recordings. Now a decade on the pair are revisiting their acclaimed debut EP, and its lead track Birdcage, inviting some of the many friends they've made over the years to help them celebrate. 

Originally released on the now defunct Alpage Records, Birdcage's chugging 109bpm beat and a melody that switches from throbbing minimalism to something that stands tantalisingly close to a full on Ibiza sunrise moment made it the kind of track that is never far from a discerning DJs record bag and perfect for reinterpretation. https://soundcloud.com/you_man

First up to rework the track is Mexican DJ/producer and co-owner of Duro Records, Theus Mago. Upping the tempo, Mago works Birdcage's familiar, pulsating bass line, twisting it into new acidic shapes, whilst the addition of menacing rave stabs adds a dark techno vibe to the track.
