In our next pair of episodes we'll be hearing from Dr. Philip Smith, covering a range of topics from his own personal experiences in gastroenterology to the state of the profession now. He is a retired consultant luminal gastroenterologist, and when not hosting podcasts of his own at the Gut and Frontline Gastroenterology journals, dedicates much of his energy to academia and training. In this first part he tells us about his path into gastro, the numerous challenges he has faced, and the varied roles he now occupies.
