BT and Christian Burns cross musical paths once again. Teased around the globe with contribution from “Now or Never” duo Tritonal, “Paralyzed” is finally slated for an August 11th release on Enhanced Music.

Platinum-selling artist, Grammy-nominated producer, film composer, and technologist, BT has certainly had an illustrious 15+ year career. Today he unveils his latest creation in collaboration with friend Christian Burns, the highly decorated, in-demand singer-songwriter who was recently featured on “Shimmer” from Tiesto’s highly acclaimed A Town Called Paradise Album.

The dominating-duo responsible for such smashes like “Suddenly,” “Forget Me,” “The Emergency,” “Love Divine,” and “The Enemy” reunite. In their latest, “Paralyzed,” a powerful combination of mesmerizing riffs, invigorating melodies, and compelling vocal work will have you transfixed. 

The single will be supported by a very special five-date North American tour featuring BT and Christian Burns. The #Paralyzed Tour will be making stops in Calgary, Chicago, Madison, Detroit, and Dallas.

Although it may not be the most complex song in the world, nor the most virtuosic, when I was writing this I felt very emotional. The story behind the song is of a disconsolate nature, with what I tried to convey being quite difficult to perceive, but I shall explain, and I hope you can understand and hear the story :)

The story is of an alternate version of you. What you envision your perfect life to be, you may be surrounded by the people you love, live in your ideal world.

The invasive nature of others trying to tell you what to do and where to go is corrupting your train of thought, with people you love being taken away from you, stress, hate, and other hindrances being introduced into your life until you find yourself on the threshold of leaving your perfect world, or leaving it to die. I’ve conveyed this through the use of distortion, glitches and the neuro style bass, underpinning a beautiful piano melody, which is still trying to shine through the darkness.

Whilst on this threshold of beauty and desolation, you feel a sense of ecstasy as you find the motive to grasp onto the beauty your life still has.

The sample of speaking is taken from the Tomoyo Chapter of the series Clannad: After Story. In this, a couple stop their relationship whilst carrying the knowledge they are still deeply in love with each other, simply because other people have influenced them to be apart. This is their reconciliation of their relationship and love. (For those of you who want to know specifically where it is from, here: youtu.be/XRfKaJytYG0?t=1m20s)

The sample from the space shuttle is meant to symbolise the halt of your precious and heavenly life; “It’s come to a final stop.”

Or has it?

All I’m trying to say here is, don’t let other people influence your life in a bad way. Focus on and cherish the things you love. If you envision a dream, chase it.

This piece was designed to bring closure to the theme of individuality, about letting go of anything or anyone else, being able to stand on your own as you continue forward. 

Endings are not bad things, they just mean that something else is about to begin. And there are many things that don't really end, anyway, they just begin again in a new way. Saying goodbye doesn't mean anything. It's the time we spent together that matters, not how we left it. The memories we created. Some memories never fade, and I believe that keeps us connected, transcending anything physical. No matter what happens, some memories can never be replaced. 

To come full circle, this song was somewhat inspired by Clannad: After Story like I was with The Garden of Escapism. I will leave you with this quote. 

"Meeting you was the best thing that ever happened to me. I don’t want you to be lost or afraid or anything like that. From here on out, I know things might be hard sometimes. But no matter what, please don’t ever regret the time we spent together."

With this, The Garden collection draws to a close. I can now say: "It has come to a final stop" :)
