Unbeyond Anthologies are pleased to present LUCID’s solo debut on the label in the form of her new EP, “Found Footage”.

Opening on a stark and desolate note with “on a dark and stormy night” that sets the tone for what is to come, this project mixes ghastly deathstep atmospheres and production with a thrilling retro futuristic horror theme. Songs such as “Good Intentions” and “Foreshadowing” throw their weight around with devastating impact, a seamless blend of old and new sonic textures.

“ALARM” slows down the pace with heaving sound design and wailing melodies, the tempo mirrored by the title track with its sinuous growls and anthemic synthwave leads. “Survive” contains frazzled flows and dizzying trap percussion, while the closer “Midnight (Credits)” ends on a delightfully ghoulish downtempo drop.

“My first EP since ‘BLOODSHED’ in 2021, and with a much more in-depth tracklist and theme. Speaking of, when starting the title track, I was very into GREYLOCK, an online analog horror with some found footage segments, with the title track directly themed to tape 10 of the series. The more general musical ideas and tone started finding their way into more of my projects of the time and continued to be fleshed out until I collected the songs and made the theme more concrete.” said LUCID. “Although not personally attached to me like my albums, I do find this to be a very important step in my music, so I hope it shows. THIS SONG STARTED WRITING ITSELF IN 2018 AS AN 80BPM SAMPLE CHOP THING THAT WASN’T VERY GOOD AND WAS TRYING VERY VERY HARD TO BE SOME KIND OF HAIR METAL BALLAD. SOMETHING REMARKABLE HAPPENED THOUGH IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT PROJECT. THE SAMPLES WHEN CHOPPED UP TOGETHER STARTED MAKING LITTLE SENTENCES. I LOVE WHEN THINGS LIKE THIS HAPPEN.

A LONG TIME AGO I BOUGHT A MICROPHONE THAT I HAD NO INTENTION OF USING, BUT HERE I WAS SINGING THESE GHOST SENTENCES OVER TOP THE SAMPLES JUST TO SEE IF I COULD MAKE IT SOUND DECENT AND INTENTIONAL.

IT SAT THERE FOR A YEAR OR SO, I WAS REMARKABLY PUT OFF BY HOW BORING A BALLAD COULD BE, BUT SOMETIMES WHEN YOU COME BACK TO THINGS YOU SEE THEM IN A NEW LIGHT. 

I FIGURED MY CHEEZE-BALL EQUIVALENT TO AN 80’s POWER BALLAD WOULD BE THOSE SUPER SELF-INDULGENT DRUM AND BASS SONGS WITH WAY TOO MUCH INTRO AND OUTRO AND CHEESY LYRICS ABOUT LIFE THAT NOBODY IS EVEN GOING TO HEAR WHEN IT’S BEING PLAYED AT 1000 DB IN SOME BASEMENT. SO I TRIED TO MAKE THAT, AND I THINK I DID A PRETTY GOOD JOB.
