Seeing that I just completed the Slimkid3 & Nu-Mark collaboration, I thought it was appropriate to assemble a mix that highlights both Jurassic 5 and Pharcyde at their best. I dug deep in the vaults and uncovered some never before heard multi tracks, unreleased songs and acapellas from old tapes that needed to see the light of day. This is how I’d like to see all 8 MCs from both groups trade the mic. Enjoy!

This mix was originally called (making my) Way Back Home, mixed as a DEMO intended for LP GIOBBI with intentions of trying to open for her during her last tour. I had to do some post but it was only removing sections and speeding it up to fulfill time requirements. When anyone asks if I really have ADD, I direct them to this. Thank you all very much for taking the time to listen my work. I would love to hear any and all feedback, criticism, do's and don'ts. The music production part of the prize is what I value most. I learn new software a lot faster if I am hand held at first til I know and am super comfortable with the GUI of the software  I'm confident my style is unique and as most of my mixes do It tells a story. I used to have and use the train horn and train wreck sample always on hand  I am my own worst critique. As I am with all aspects of my existence.

One of my favorite MC's of all time is Mos Def. The man was so damn fluid on the mic and actually cared about the things he talked about. A true poet. Growing up, it was very important for me to see people who were actually intelligent while still retaining that cool factor. I think many times in the black community, you equate a person being extremely well-read as either snobby and elitist or a straight sell-out with no self-awareness. Mos was able to shatter those misconceptions beautifully. The man is an award-winning actor, true mc, poet, and producer. And he does all of them with skill and a nobility. I’ve been paying it forward my whole life and won’t eva change…. Do shit don’t douche it!!! Evolve not Revolve!!!!! Team Work Makes the Dream Work!!!! What might be considered an obstacle could be a life-altering asset…. Light, love, emotional control and rational introspection is required for the dimensional  transgression of this realm to meld with the kingdom of heaven. Where there’s jealousy there should be inspiration. Let anger and hatred become motivation. Circular retaliation leads only towards darkness and death. Forgiveness and repentance could eventually lead to evolutionary righteous collaboration.
 


Metallica-bob Marley-pink Floyd-great full dead-The ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND-Hip Hop/DNB/Breaks-RnB influenced electronic/house. From my first (of dozens) Allman Brothers show in 96’ til I Landed flat broke a few years ago.  Amphitheater lots, venues, “raves”, festivals,  were my second home.  Any  talented live music I could find was a reason to get out of town. The list is endless with pretty much no limit on genres.  Xcept country. I was a B-boy with Differential Flava Crew from the inception til 03’ when I left Buffalo.  My kids have more exposure to music in five years than I had in 20……. I’ll never forget the first time I saw Z-Trip at bonoroo 2002 and was jaw dropped. Roger Watters, another unforgettable show, and front and center for my fav MC Chali 2na at small venues in Humboldt…… The only good thing about COVID was bringing DJ’s to social media…….. Unfortunately I have this problem of ending up in places with shitty service………  Only I’m America
