It all began in 1997 when I finally had enough money to buy some belt driven record decks and a mixer. I never looked back.
Before that, when I was growing b up, my father taught me about sound and frequencies (he is an electronics engineer), and we shared a passion for music, always listening to records together, 
I was always told I was musical and played the piano by ear, but regimental classical piano lessons just weren't for me.
So I studied Art, but the pull towards music continued strongly, especially when the electronic scene in the 90s was exploding into something truly amazing. 
I met people who took me to free parties and was completely in love with the music.
I finally settled in the southwest and began putting on nights under the name Electric Beats until I was noticed and I became resident for SUBSONIC @ Cafe Mamba in Taunton in 2000. A major turning point, with lots of Breaks masters coming to play, such as Stereo 8, Will White (Propellerheads), Leeroy Thornhill,  Elite Force, Stabilizer, Rennie Pilgrem, Phil K, General Midi, Matt Cantor ( Freestylers), to name but a few! 
Parallel to that, I contributed in Taunton's Weekender magazine with my  monthly Breaksgirl feature, highlighting the growing Breaks scene.
I also hosted various radio shows online. In the meantime I was asked to become resident for Exeter's infamous Beatz & Bobz night, which was an honour, especially as the Exeter scene back then was so hard to get involved in. This residency lasted 10 glorious years, again, with the top names in the scene guesting on a monthly basis. It was one hell of an event, and so were its NYE parties at the Phoenix each year. A sell out every time. 
I've played at Glastonbury, the Glade festival, Beautiful Days, Aeon, and honestly, many more that I can't even recall. The same applies to club nights!

The breakbeat scene underwent gradual changes and fizzled out into Electro House and then that somehow changed things for most involved.
And so I was desperate to find something new to inspire me to keep me going and it happened backstage in the artist's tent at Glade festival, where the soundsystem was pumping out the most exciting and fresh Tech House and Deep House grooves.
And I knew there and then that I wanted to take that direction, because I was inspired to continue.That is how my alias Swayee was born. The genre I felt was quite different to Breaks, so I changed my artist name. A risk, I knew, but many still remembered it was me, so the bookings continued.
By then I had cowritten and released 4 tracks with Dan Cahill, under the guise Distraction/Diversion, which were all pressed on vinyl, and solo, I had released 3 tracks plus remixes digitally.

This is when I started up my Housewarming night with talented DJs I had come to know along the way, plus a female Soundcloud pick from Leicester called Vicky Jessop.
The emphasis was on House and Garage influences (which is another genre I visit).
After 5 years of enormous effort and putting all my love into this night, I decided to take a break and concentrate on playing out at verious events, which were still often and varied.

Since the pandemic, I have been pleased to notice a new wave of Breakbeat emerging and so I am over the moon about playing out again as Andromeda.
