Four years in the making and entirely self-produced, 'Tall Tales' is the first full-length album from London-based alternative folk band Ringlefinch. 

With dark-humoured, wittily introspective lyrics set to upbeat, offbeat earworm tunes and a strong folk-storytelling sensibility, 'Tall Tales' centres on themes of identity, exploring how we all tell ourselves stories of who we are to try and make sense of our place in the world. This sense of self-determination even extends to the production of the album - the band recorded and mixed it on equipment they built themselves.

"Pomme De Lune"
Growing up in the Peak District in England, miles from the ocean, made Ringlefinch singer Andy a bit jealous of all the great shanties that coastal folks seemed to have. Derbyshire folk songs are grand and lovely, and have a sensibility all their own, but “Lowlands Away”? “Roll Alabama”? “Running Down To Cuba”? Anthems, one and all! Taking cues from Baron Munchausen to “Yellow Submarine”, "Pomme De Lune" is our stab at writing a shanty for the Pennines - an anti-sea-shanty, if you will.

Hands up if life is getting stressful

Sometimes I deal by playing music
and sometimes I relax by reading books

climb a tree and don't come down
and throw a bunch of pinecones at people

A crowd has formed around my tree,
just out of reach, and the police have
blocked the street on every side
But no one can climb it and

a pinecone here for everyone who tries

go to war over the royalties so

it seems the world's concerned with what I might do next…

and my robot ass don't know it yet but

Is it protest? Am I being paid to preach or advertise?

And this tree's a makeshift metaphor and I prefer to think

They are the lame and immature ways I deal with them
But also how satisfying it is to do so...
To dome one... when they're not looking... yeah

just recognize when it is time to leave
