2 One - Way Ticket

There was a hole, a hole in the sky
deep in the forest that withered and died
it woke from its slumber and opened last night.
There was a traveler lost beyond finding
who fell through that hole, gears turning and grinding
straight into a light that was floating and blinding

and it said “You’ve come so far to be here where you are,
but your pathways are twisting and turning
not far away, where the night shines like day
in this forest, a city is burning.”

There was a city, just where the mask said
before the mask finished he turned heel and fled
the mask, it stared after, and shook its great head.
He ran through the forest, and after his trek
he found the great city, and found it a wreck
he looked to the sky as he craned his neck

Deep in the city, between all the towers
he saw there a monster, a beast of great power
a body much larger, more massive than ours.
The beast was attacking a large regiment
he fought off the monster and would not relent
until on its distant dark way it was sent.

But the soldiers, after this giant task
they kicked him out of the city, and didn’t let him ask
so he went back, in horror, to find the bright mask.

and it said “You left too fast, for that beast was the last
of the ones you were meant to have aided
you locked him out and let evil inside
of the city now ransacked and raided.”

He had done badly, but he had a plan,
and once he had formed it, he turned heel and ran
to go find the city and beast he had banned.
He found the monster, and said “I will try
to get back your city,” so they went there in the night
and lit off some rockets that showered the sky.

The soldiers in the city knew not what was there
they watched in confusion the lights in the air
and left through the gates to confront the odd flares.
While they were idling, the beast made a dash
straight into the fortress, and locked the gates fast
the traveler left and ran into the mask.

And it said, “You have done well, now the danger is felled
and the city is safe from its foe.
All’s well once more, now that you’ve won the war
and now back to your world you shall go.”

And back to his world he did go.
