Simple Love

Hi! I wrote "Float" as an interlude for my upcoming album that I am releasing this year. The story behind the miniature Victrola I made for the album artwork is all about unexpected gifts and since it's my birthday today, I thought it would be fun to give this track as a free download! Just click the "More" button above.

Below is a little backstory about making the artwork for it. I post a lot of behind-the-scenes over at http://instagram.com/buggieclub if you'd like to see video of the record spinning and much more :) 

When I was making the Victrola, I had a few ideas for how I would get the record to spin on its own, but I wasn't completely sold on any of them. One day, I was working away in my mom’s garage with the door opened and her neighbor Henry stopped by to see what I was doing. I showed him the early stages of the record player and told him about it. 
 
A few days later, he gifted me two copper music boxes that he had gotten from someone else and was getting rid of. But they reminded him of me and he thought I may be able to use them for something. When my mom came outside and saw them, she said “There’s your turning mechanism!” My jaw dropped. Of course! It’s perfect! 
 
I unscrewed the music box from one of them and placed it inside my wooden record player and voila! It fit perfectly. All I had left to do was make the record and attach it. You just never know when a solution is in the neighborhood!  
 
The original music box that I ended up using plays a popular song from the past. Any guesses? I’ll even give you a clue. It has to do with a piano…
