It is with great delight to present this heartfelt work from Iris da Selva,
a hidden treasure from Belem. In a special collaboration with Peter Power, immersing Iris's compositions in an ephemeral, ambient landscape.

On this Ep; 'Zelo' meaning; Care, Iris reflects with melancholic contemplation a deep yearning for human connection with the natural world. This sentiment echoed In 'Sincronia' with the urge to synchronise one's body with nature and learning to care for this greater body as our own.

In 'Natureza Mae' Iris sings with tender honesty, a wish to speak to one's mother about their deep inner feelings for mother nature.

Iris is a non-binary, trans artist from the Amazon. Born in Belém the capital of Para. Mixing musical influences of MPB (Musica Popular Brasileiro) with strong elements of Carimbó, Iris explores the enchanting sensitivity and strength of water in his musical poetry. Spirituality is the guiding element and each composition seeks to unveil everyday life, presenting to the world a perception of the liminal delicacy of life.

A espiritualidade é seu elemento condutor e suas composições procuram descortinar o dia a dia, na busca de apresentar ao mundo o percepção das delicadezas e entrelinhas da vida.

Nicola Cruz is releasing the remixed version of his critically acclaimed 2015 album, Prender el Alma. It will be released on June 10th on ZZK Records, and features remixes by 12 artists including label-mates History of Colour (El Buho & Barrio Lindo), Chancha Via Circuito, and sister label-mate EVHA.

Inspired by electronic music techniques and local Andean music and culture, Cruz created the original sounds in Prender el Alma layer by layer, instrument by instrument, drum by drum. A cast of eclectic Latin American artists seamlessly pick up where Nicola left off, adding their unique flavor to each individual track.

Says the legend that on an eclipse ocasion, both guarani and inca people threw a big party to daze the Celestial Ounce (Xivi), because they believe that the end of the world would happen when she gobbles the Moon and Sun brothers, then the Earth falls thus in the fullest darkness. Just as Xivi, Raru is the hindu demon followed by a tiger that also tries to voraciously swallow the stars, causing the eclipses. Like these, countless ancestral myths around the world explain this phenomenon; for the Pomo people there is a fight between the Bear and the Sun, and for the Tlingit it is the moment of stealthy darkness for the Moon and the Sun to love each other.

In March 2018 I met with Esoh and Ema for the first time in over 20 years; we did a lot of music projects back when I lived in Kyoto in the 1990’s. It was so special to meet them after so long and to find the same easy flow through listening and playing together. Deep Space Blue was the opening piece at a concert we gave in Kobe. The deep vibrations of the didgeridoo open to a depth of connection feelings of eternity, in friendship as in time and space ...
