An angsty pop punk band from the seedy outskirts of Pittsburgh, PA, The Contenders were born when drummer Elijah Bill and guitarist Dan Wallace started jamming together in Eli's basement. Soon, Eli's brother Zach, and friend of the group Dave Sinneway joined in on bass and vocals, respectively. They soon wrote their first song, "Decepticons Make Good Lovers" (a song named after an inside joke between the brothers Zach and Eli),  and the quartet knew they needed to continue writing music. They christened themselves The Contenders, and did just that.  They debuted in the Steel City at Stage AE at a show entited "The Storm" and began playing more and more shows throughout the spring of 2013. That summer, faced with internal frustration, they  parted ways with singer Dave Sinneway. Zach, Eli, and Dan, left to themselves, kept the band alive and started on the recording process, as well as continued to write new music. As the summer of 2013 drew to a close, the band added Tyler McMullen as a second guitarist, as well as Nathan Janov as its new frontman. The Contenders have become a force to be reckoned with and are ready to take the scene by storm as a young, hungry band itching to indulge in their potential. Stay tuned, Pittsburgh.
