Meet Yourself is my first self-produced and written song. It's about learning who you are, finding yourself, and the crazy-cool journey life can be. It's very autobiographical of the last 10 years in my life, up to this point where I'm doing what I love.

To me this is a very special version of the song I just released. I went back into my studio this morning and did another mix and more edits to the song I released just last night. I did this because I was insecure with how the first one sounded, and felt it needed more work.

I think any artist or creative knows this battle - it's the struggle to get toward something more perfect, toward something that more resembles your original vision for the song.

John Mayer once said something about songwriting that really resonated with me. To paraphrase, he said that you go into the studio with a very specific idea in your head of where you want the song to be, and it almost never comes out exactly how you envisioned, but at a point you have to let it go into the world and release it for what it is.

There's no such thing as perfection, and at this point I think I'm happy enough with the song that I have to send it into the world to do its thing.

I just wanted to give you a brief glimpse of the process, and show my insecurity about what I'm doing. Not in a negative way, but in a way that hopefully lets others know that I think most artists feel this way at one point or another, and it should never hold you back from sharing with the world.
