This week on the Ismcast we have Tred.

Aussie born, Berlin based Tred hitting us hard for Ismcast 134 with a power hour of fast paced techno, trance and electro. Since relocating from Perth he's risen up through the ranks as a DJ, showcasing a firm understanding of the blend between emotional and destructive dance-floor tracks. This understanding has filtered over into Tred's impressive production style, with his recent release on 1Ø PILLS MATE strongly highlighting this.

POSSESSION PODCAST #212 - ALEX WILCOX

Born in Texas, Alex Wilcox was originally infatuated with 90's rock music and spent countless days playing blues, funk, and grunge music.
During college, he visited Berlin, where his nascent interest in techno took a leap forward when he saw it’s connection to funk music, and fell in love with the idea of a political club culture. After returning to Austin, he began learning more about electronic music production - originally wanting to make instrumentals to surround his guitar playing. Thinking the club scene in Austin to be too small, he moved to Los Angeles where he continued honing his production skills - at this
point constantly listening to Modeselektor, Paul Kalkbrenner, and Kanye West. In LA, he worked in the major Hollywood Studio - Chalice Recordings - where he was able to see the inner workings of pop/rap music production in the modern era.

He also began assisting a pop-producer - primarily editing and tuning vocals. He missed Berlin, and wanted to return now that his appreciation of techno had grown. After spending several weeks in Berlin, Alex realized that while he enjoyed certain elements of pop-music and the LA underground scene, he longed for the sense of community, value system, and perspective on music that he saw in Berlin.

He first moved to Detroit where he began DJ'ing on a more regular basis. He spent time working in at Underground Resistant’s headquarters - Submerge, and continued to constantly produce. He self-released an album in 2019 called „Because the Sky is Blue.“ The album dabbles in techno, juke, electronica, and indie. Eventually, after finding his track from the album - "Sleep Paralysis,"
Anetha and Alex connected - resulting in a release with her label "Mama Told Ya."

The EP - titled "It's Okay to Cry," featured eccentric, "oddball" music that plays with unconventional ideas in the techno world.
Alex’s sets, like his productions, are based in techno though have a tendency to incorporate dramatic BPM swings, a punk rock mentality, and a sense of humor.
Alex is now based in Berlin and has loads of music coming.

@anethamusic's first decade in dance music has been impressive indeed. Much of it is now on her own terms, too - she runs the Mama Told Ya label and agency where she drops her own glorious mix of techno, EBM and trance as well as platforming emerging artists. She is a resident DJ at Amsterdam's epic Awakenings as well as Le Sucre in her native France and Fuse in Brussels. Her "less is more" but always colourful and emotional take on techno is inspired by the fact she is a qualified architect and it is embodied in the title of her recent "Rules Are Meant to Be Broken EP" in collaboration with Ryan James Ford. 

Anetha's DJ dexterity is on full show in this week's 90-minute mix as she works through many different shades of high-tempo club music. There are passages of youthful and raved-up sounds, stripped-back warehouse rhythms and firing machine music. There are hints of everything from trance to gabber to EBM helping to add character to each track and it's that which makes this such a compelling listen from a new school star.
