Betoko began working on "I’m a Gin" 18 months ago in the renown Red Bus Recording Studios where George Michael, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Tina Turner, Jocelyn Brown and Imagination themselves have all recorded and where Betoko produces his work today. 
 
Betoko's idea behind "Im a Gin" was to revive the original retro-funky Imagination vibe.  "Im a Gin" contains elements of the authentic track using those same stems from the original; and produced by Betoko in the same studio where Imagination originally produced all of their tracks, they and Betoko used the same compressors, keyboards and console creating the highest sonic quality sound.

The Crew Love crusader makes his long awaited return to dirtybird. The latest in a long line of slickshot pieces this year, both “5 Feet” and “American Holiday” are two of his shiniest, sleaziest, slinkiest adventures to date.

“5 Feet” opens with Nick’s trademark organic drums, dubbed-out to create an early night empty concert hall feeling. But the venue fills faster than the naked eye can possibly see as the tightly plucked bass guitar drops into the pocket of a supreme classic old school house pattern. Adorned with Nick’s simple falsetto vocal hook, there’s a cool Bootsy-meets-LCD vibe running throughout. Sexy, infectious and purring with groove science.

“American Holiday” takes us much deeper into Monaco’s outer-dimension. Drama trembles off every space-out tub-thump before a stark piano hook takes intro duties. Suddenly replaced by a shimmering guitar line, we’re soon massaged by crying synth stretches, an array of percussive sprinkles and bold synth leads. Part Amazonian, part Neptunian, this track is definitely outside the box.

Every Nick Monaco track is essential in our ears, but there really is a deep sense of next levelism to these two cuts. Five feet high… And rising.

Das Original von „The Game“ ist eine Produktion der beiden Erfurter Musiker namens "Flowmotro", welche sich am besten selbst erklären, indem sie sich "kurz" mit folgender These vorstellen möchten: Im Jahre 2077 wurde erstmals in der Menschheitsgeschichte Fragmente einer Audiobotschaft vom Allen Telescope Array detektiert, dessen Quelle interstellaren Ursprungs ist. Die empfangenen Daten stammen von der 35 Jahre zuvor gestarteten Voyager III Mission. An Board befand sich ein holografischer Datenspeicher, mit grüßen, sowie musikalischen Botschaften der Menschheit. Warum ausgerechnet ein Musikstück zweier Erfurt Musiker namens Flowmotro zurück zur Erde gesandt wurde, ist bis heute noch nicht geklärt. Forscher gehen davon aus, dass der Optimismus und der Glaube an eine friedvolle Koexistenz multiplanetarer Lebensformen im Subtext der Musik von Flowmotro enthalten ist und daher als Antwort ausgewählt wurde.

Wir jedenfalls freuen uns schon auf die Musik, die Flowmotro in nächster Zeit noch so ins Universum und (da dürfen wir und hoffentlich schon etwas kurzfristiger freuen) auf die Tanzflächen unseres weltlichen Breitengrades senden wird.

Label-Owner Adam Reise hat es sich bei diesem futuristischen Musikstück nicht nehmen lassen, gleich zwei Remixes bereitzustellen. Im House Remix verarbeitet er die Vinyls seiner Jugend, die ihn einst sehr geprägt haben. Beim zweiten Remix (feat. Jazz-Sängerin Alena) gehen die beiden noch einen Schritt weiter und kreieren eine - anderen Produktionen schon vorausgehenden - ganz eigene Soundwelt, die sowohl für's Autoradio als auch die Tanzflächen geeignet sein sollte.

The original version of “The Game” is a production by two musicians from Erfurt called “Flowmotro,” who best explain themselves by introducing themselves “briefly” with the following thesis: In 2077, for the first time in human history, fragments of an audio message were detected by the Allen Telescope Array, the source of which is interstellar. The data received came from the Voyager III mission, launched 35 years earlier. On board was a holographic data storage device containing greetings and musical messages from humanity. Why a piece of music by two Erfurt musicians named Flowmotro was sent back to Earth remains unclear to this day. Researchers assume that the optimism and belief in peaceful coexistence of multiplanetary life forms contained in the subtext of Flowmotro's music is the reason why it was chosen as a response.

In any case, we are already looking forward to the music that Flowmotro will be sending out into the universe in the near future and (hopefully a little sooner) onto the dance floors of our part of the world.

Label owner Adam Reise couldn't resist providing two remixes of this futuristic piece of music. In the House Remix, he incorporates the vinyl records of his youth, which he loved to play. In the second remix (featuring jazz singer Alena), the two go one step further and create a sound world all their own—one that precedes other productions—that is suitable for both the car radio and the dance floor.
