Back after a long break in Souncloud. Want to share one of the most magical sets I had so far. So happy I found my memory stick after almost half year.

Wondefruit Festival takes place somewhere in Pattaya (Thailand). One of the most amazing festivals I´ve been and luckly me I had the chance to share my amazing music with such an amazing people.

Melodic-Techno-Meister Carsten Halm hat für uns nicht nur einen traumhaften Podcast gezaubert – der DJ und Produzent hat uns auch Rede und Antwort gestanden:

1. Wo bist du geboren und aufgewachsen und wo lebst du jetzt?
Geboren wurde ich in Siegburg und bis vor vier Jahren habe ich in Hennef gelebt. Dann bin ich zu meiner jetzigen Frau nach Hürth gezogen. Was die Liebe alles bewegt 😉 

2. Welche Musikrichtung hatte den größten Einfluss auf dich und was verbindest du mit Musik? 
Musik war und ist für mich einfach alles: sie gibt Kraft, sie spendet Trost, sie macht mich glücklich. Meine Einflüsse habe ich eigentlich aus fast allen elektronischen Bereichen gezogen. Erst war es Techno und Trance. Bis die Clubs zu überlaufen waren und es zusehends unentspannter wurde. Das brachte mich zur Housemusik – da waren die Leute noch sehr entspannt und wie zu Beginn der Techno/Trance-Bewegung eine große Familie. 

3. Wie bist du zur elektronischen Musik gekommen? 
Eines Morgens so gegen 6, nach einem Besuch in der Discothek Hippodrome, wollte ich noch nicht nach Hause und habe den Taxifahrer gefragt: „Was jetzt?“. Eine halbe Stunde später stand ich in einem dunklen Keller zu flackerndem Licht und sich windenden Körpern im Takt der wummernden Bässe. Das hat mich so in seinen Bann gezogen, dass ich von da an meine Heimat in der Kölner Clubszene gefunden hatte. Space Club und Warehouse, da fing alles an und ich glaube bis 2000 habe ich wenig ausgelassen. Dann wurde meine zauberhafte Tochter geboren. Das war für mich der Punkt, eine Pause von ca. 14 Jahren einzulegen. 

4. Seit wann legst du auf? 
Ca. 1991 habe ich angefangen mit den alten Plattenspielern von meinem Dad, ganz ohne Pitch, aufzulegen. Das hat schnell dazu geführt, sich ein paar ordentliche Turnies zu kaufen und richtig loszulegen. Relativ schnell haben wir dann unsere eigenen kleinen Underground-Partys im Bergischen veranstaltet. Als das Warehouse mal nicht zur „High Noon“ aufgemacht hat, sind wir gemeinsam mit Sven Väth, Oli Bondzio und anderen zu unserer Location gefahren und haben da ein unglaubliches Fest gefeiert. In Clubs habe ich erst nach der Pause aufgelegt, denn ich hatte alles, was ich liebte, auf unseren Partys.

5. Wie würdest du deinen Sound beschreiben?
Ich mag es groovy, hypnotisch, verträumt und freaky. Ich denke das lässt sich im Gesamten schwer an Genres festmachen. Aber ich bediene mich gerne bei Melodic House- und Techno, Progressive House, Indie Dance, Nu Disco und Electronica. Ich fand die Melodien des alten Trance wunderbar, allerdings war mir der Beat viel viel zu schnell. Somit versuche ich tranceverwandte Sounds mit housigeren Beats zu basteln.
