Illustrious female producer Davina is set to unveil her cultivated four track ‘Jungle Chic EP’ on leading label Hot Creations under new alias Davina Moss.

Davina Moss is the deep / tech house project of Davina, an artist who has spanned the far corners of house, electro, techno and minimal, releasing over 200 tracks as well as producing numerous albums and mix compilations. In 2013 she found her way onto Hot Creation sub-label Hot Trax with the dynamic two tracker ‘9 Weeks’. Two years on and the ‘Jungle Chic EP’ is an accomplished edition to the Hot Creations catalogue under her new alias. Each track is a first class delivery for the dancefloor, fixed in an accelerated gear she delves into tribal-esque rhythms and spacey FX structured over rolling drum workouts and unforgettable basslines.

Now residing in Ibiza, Davina is originally from New Caledonia, a French island between Australia and New Zealand. A master of all trades she is known as a DJ, live artist and as one of the world’s most in demand music technology tutors. As a basis for the third album by the Düsseldorf Kreidler drummer Thomas Klein THE STEAM AGE, an abandoned piano served as a sound source. Tapping, scratching, scraping, plucking: working with the wooden body and steel strings led to the building blocks of a broad sonic spectrum, which Klein then brushed against the grain with his sampler. All of these alienated patterns and sequences were then invited to dance to the typical Sølyst percussion groove, merging with him to form a hypnotically driving machine-funk. Out March 18, 2016

12k is happy to present the debut release on the label from Argentinian composer Federico Durand who has had a series of amazing releases on labels such as Spekk, Own, and Desire Path. Federico and 12k crossed paths on a tour of Japan together in 2014 where the personal friendships among the artists and the label are such a part of what 12k is about. Sharing music and ideas throughout the tour led to an invite to make an album.

It’s no accident that Federico’s music has a dusty air of nostalgia surrounding it. It has always been a very personal affair. Songs inspired family, local life and the world around him are woven by hand with a selection of very physical instruments. He works like a craftsman, piecing together fragments of sound from cassette recorders, small instruments and loopers and creates music that’s as softspoken as he is. No pretenses, no disguises, just the most honest and down-to-earth music that can be made. Broken melodies spinning from tape reels, the sounds of bells and small found objects being played with care... The music is as beautiful as it is introspective, like a small window of antique glass looking right into Federico’s soul.

In his own words:

“A través del espejo in Spanish means “Through the mirror”. I am fascinated with the experience of putting a mirror in front of another: as a miracle, the image turns in a loop that flows into infinity. Loops in the mirror get less clear with each repetition, the color becomes diffuse and greener. When these loops turn into a lullaby we can enter the other side of the mirror: a place of delight and insight.

I always make simple melodies as they are born free. In many pieces, I use cassette recorders as an instrument that play friendly with others such as piano, lyre, toys, bells or effects. I enjoy the possibilities of cutting tape and making loops, reversing, and even using many tape recorders at the same time making air recordings of the sound. The Roland Space Echo or 2880, which are loop-machines themselves, match perfectly with this way of working.

When I see an emboridery I enjoy both the front and back where a mysterious, invisible world suddenly appears. For this reason, I am grateful to the natural sounds made by the machines, the crackle of loops and other sounds that appear while working, as an unexpected gift.

"Six Cycles" is the much-anticipated debut from one of the world's leading orchestrators, arrangers and conductors.

Having worked on films such as 'Inception', 'The Dark Knight' and 'Black Swan', and with artists such as Patti Smith, Nick Cave, U2 and Kronos Quartet, as well as a successful composer for film and television, it was only a matter of time before Matt Dunkley released his own album.

Dunkley reveals, "the inspiration for the six pieces that comprise 'Six Cycles' all derive from disparate sources, whether it a piece of poetry, a painting or the emotion of personal loss. Initially they seemed to be unrelated, but as I listened to them as a whole, a sense of them belonging together slowly emerged, forming a true "cycle". I want the listener to discover their own world within my music, hence the willfully enigmatic titles."

Recorded with the renowned Babelsberg Film Orchestra, the result is a rich and nuanced cinematic soundscape, replete with stirring builds of Wagnerian grandeur.

“The Pier” is the name given to their introspective, desolate debut album, conceived in collaboration with an impressive range of musicians including Ken Vandermark, Jos Smolders, Lucio Capece and BJ Nilsen.

The Cray Twins are fascinated by how audio systems, electronic and acoustic, are like human systems, and have set out to find the borders areas on this album, regions where things are no longer the same, where sound or the perception of it changes or breaks down. It’s a collaboration irregularity, in order to find the edge.

This is also where the image of the The Pier comes from; the pier as the limit of human extent, our furthest outreach onto the depths, after witch the space opens up to the unknown, the unheard.

Fang Bomb has previously released Paul Baran’s Panoptic (2009) and The Other (2015).

In October 2015 we released Aïsha Devi's Of Matter and Spirit LP. The album encapsulated the spiritual metamorphosis and transcendental journeys of this otherworldly figure. The Swiss/Nepalese-Tibetan producer mentions Sufism and Tibetan monks as her major influences. Aïsha Devi published the LP under her birth name, adding further integrity and candor to this already intimate piece. Houndstooth now returns with the Of Matter and Spirit remixes EP to remind us about the sonic wonders hidden in Aïsha Devi's debut album. 

Irish duo @lakker open the cast of remixers with their take on Anatomy of Light adding a heavy dose of syncopated percussion. No Pain In Pop/New Ninja Tune signing @throwingshade transforms Kim & the Wheel of Life – Aïsha Devi's comment about contemporary idols being channels of commerciality rather than spirituality – into a session of brief introspection. 

The remix EP also boasts two reworks of Aïsha's hit single Mazdâ. Berlin's @mindbodyfitness interprets the track as a whirlpool of trance. The cherry on top is this spooky Killing Sound (@blackest-ever-black) version of Mazdâ with grime MC Rider Shafique and Bogues. 

The Aïsha Devi remixes EP exhibits the ethereal beauty within Of Matter and Spirit and should give more club airplay to this singular artist who perceives music as just another form of meditation.
