Here’s a gift for old school music friends on my birthday, 25 years later. Possibly the only deliberate DJ Markem mix during his musical tenure in Vancouver. 

Sunday Morning Drive With My Friend Henry started out as a token of friendship and birthday present. In March of 1996, Markem locked himself in the dj booth of Graceland’s for hours with a bottle of rum and three turntables to create a beautiful blissful story of pure and sweet ambient music. The original was a double sided 100 minute cassette. During the heyday of ambient rooms at raves, it became the go to music of Sunday morning drives around Stanley Park after leaving a party the night before, watching the sun come up, looking for that warm place of audio retreat. It grew to become the soundtrack of our lives. So clean, so timeless, so flawless. The recording was edited later to fit on a CD format as the original tape had worn itself thin. It’s an honour after all these years to share this with you. Thank you Markem, you made so many people so happy with the music you played so many years ago.
