Keplrr's dub-infused UK Techno sees a sprawling, hi-definition rework from the Milan DJ and producer.

Now they'd surrounded him, arranged themselves in tight ring and began circling; capering devilishly in a way that made it impossible for him to comprehend his body's relationship to its surroundings. Drunk from panic, his body staggered and his head swung around stupidly. His eyes, clouded with tears, desperately scouted out a route to escape. Until they didn't. All of a sudden he was overcome by an overwhelming sense of  tranquility; his despair was replaced by a sense of deliverance; he stopped panicking and started dancing.  Perhaps this was where he was supposed to be.

His second addition to the label catalogue, Keplrr released Reconstructed Club on Control Freak Recordings back in August 2020. Three deep extraterrestrial tracks, meticulously crafted with the crystalline sound design for which the emerging London producer has built a name for himself.

This month sees the EP reborn, this time with creative offerings from the likes of Holding Hands boss Desert Sound Colony, Berlin-based Konduku and Bristol's Syz. Also drafted in for remix duties is Ansia Records boss, Piezo, whose 'Doom Ragga Mix' layers stabbing arpeggios over 'Bods Realm' which meander under a full-bodied soundscape of abstract drone noises. Add a chugging triplet rhythm into the equation and you have a remix which maintains the otherwordly allure of the original track, yet injects a bit of mischief into the darkness. It's not one for the faint-hearted - or maybe it is - perfectly striking the balance between hostility and humour in a way that evoked Blawan's 'Woke Up Right Handed'.

PREMIERE: Keplrr - Bod’s Realm (Piezo’s Doom Ragga Mix)[Control Freak Recordings]

Following multiple appearances on local Naarm label digital compilations, RBI lands on Butter Sessions with a full lengths worth of downtempo, ambient and full throttle, braindance-inspired dnb/jungle cuts. Whilst 'Proximity' and 'Return to Nature' presented RBI as one amongst many contemporary vanguards of the Australian electronic underground, her production style is allowed to shine in full effect on debut album Disseminate.

There is an undeniable influence of early breakbeat, 90s IDM and UK sound system pressure at play, though RBI's sound design is knowingly modern. Rarely dropping the tempo below 140 aside from brief, beatless interludes ('100o10o1hz' / 'Gossip'), the result is a fine balance of unrelenting rave music and thoughtful, introspective glitch. Penultimate jam 'Subterranean Dub' seems like a nod to the living-room techno of the Artificial Intelligence series, occasional soft breaks mixing with murky, aquatic ambience, whilst things close with an eerie avant-garde electroacoustic piece. 'Arrivée Les Nuages' strikes as a participation in the current re-evaluation of psytrance, though follows on from 'Vault Ultra' which clearly references the atmospheric breakdowns of golden era dubstep.
All in all, an impressive collection of dance productions which combines elements from scenes of the past 40 years.

NB: The tracks on Disseminate sit within a wider audio-visual context where they soundtrack various Naarm cityscapes rebuilt as immersive digital worlds: "I was lucky enough to collaborate with an incredibly talented friend and training architect Dom who came up with the idea of videos exploring digital spaces and worlds extracted from real locations. To create the work she filmed a number of locations near where we live, a warehouse party location, artist spaces, liminal spaces, objects..."

Klasse Wrecks is happy to welcome new Berlin-based producer Jotel California to the family. The emerging young artist provides a strong and varied EP that introduces his deft production skills and understanding of balanced sonics. 'Borrowed Time' traces the lines of traditional electro but stirs the pot with new flavours and the result is something that is both unique and powerful. Late 90s Techno is referenced on the title track, a dark and haunting driver that emerges into euphoria later on in the journey. While the A1 features the cut up vocals of Babyblade and takes the listener on a pulsing trip that thrashes back and forth before restlessly settling down

The first collaboration between two label heads, Alfred Czital of Harmony Rec. and Vand of Isotoop, brings four excellent dance floor stompers across the spectrum, from infectious breaks on the A side to pure techno energizers on the B side.

"Wuwuwu" is a delightful halftime journey that effortlessly blends hypnotic rhythms with a highly infectious bassline. The track's undeniable charm lies in its ability to transport listeners to a cosmic dancefloor filled with positive energy. Czital and Vand masterfully intertwine cosmic synth sound with a groove that's impossible to resist, making "Wuwuwu" an instant earworm. This track exemplifies the E.P.'s versatility, setting the tone for a release that navigates seamlessly between breakish beats and energetic techno.

In mysticism the number 9 symbolises the completion and the transition to new opportunities, reminding the cyclical nature of life and the importance of spiritual development. The compilation represents a new phase for our community.

Club Forms (Sampler)

Squidbrain lands on W133, spicing up your summer break with some breaky tunes! The Berlin via Philly artist presents 4 originals on his digital EP entitled "Time Theft".

Kicking off the EP is "Zweimal Vierundsiebzig", a bouncy, slightly spooky roller that turns into a ravy weapon. Fun fact: The track got its name from Squidbrain's usual; 2 orders of number 74 at a Vietnamese takeaway restaurant.
Next, the EP's title track "Time Theft" comes in, a grimy track with nasty vocal samples, thick bass and swirling drones. 
The third track, "Dram", is a tension-building, shifting and angular bass tune that plays with loads of crazy sounds twirling around your head. 
Last but not least, we have "Levo", which starts off with distorted guitar-like sounds and dissonant mystical melodies. As the track develops, it gets heavier and builds energy before bursting open with striking melodies and chopped-up vocals.
