'Rockbourne' is a studio band working out of Sound Investment Recording Studio, Rockbourne near Salisbury, UK. Initially created by guitarist Andy Leeson, vocalist & guitarist Dan Thacker & keyboard player & bass guitarist Peter Legg, the band was joined by drummer Terry Goulding and vocalists/backing vocalists Evie Armour & Melanie Knight. The band have been recording original compositions written by Dan and Peter and crossing the genre pool, touching on alternative rock, ballads, blues, folk & even funk. Although each member have played in bands previously, the band was quite content to record in the studio and produce tracks that have be uploaded to digital media sites, rather than play live. I started my recording studio about 20 years ago, progressing from the dining room, via the conservatory, to a purpose built outbuilding which has a sound room, control room and workshop where I build guitars. I tend to work with the older mature musician/singer/songwriters, but have also worked with younger musicians. People tend to write off the older generation as not being fashionable or of the moment, but I believe we still have a lot to offer to music lovers (i'm 66).
I'm very fortunate in having a select group of friends who are very talented musicians, singers & songwriters, and we get together every week to work on original or cover songs. One in particular, Joe Thorne, produces very high quality backing tracks in his dusty garage with cobwebs everywhere. He finishes one roughly every two weeks, brings it over to me where vocals and additional instrumentation are added. Joe plays drums, keyboards, guitar, bass and sings. As I said, very talented. The other guys & girls are Tim Gulliver, Brian Moon, Colin Mitchener, and Jimmy Trigwell (also known as Jimmy Martin), and we have all played in various bands throughout our lives, so we have a vast amount of experience.

I am very pleased to announce the imminent uploading of recordings by Becky (Bex) Sims from her first album, which we are all looking forward to hearing, and have started an international collaboration with Dick Mackridge & Bobby Louw from South Africa by jointly recording on songs. Such is the power of technology and the internet.

We have a number of original songs which I will upload soon. Some have been sent to famous singers such as Celine Dion, Jane McDonald and the Strawbs but have heard nothing in reply.

My studio is set in the rolling hills of a small village on the edge of the New Forest, with fields behind and across the valley. An idillic setting. The music I produce through the studio and released on my label 'Buzzard Records UK' will hopefully be my legacy for my children & grand children and music lovers worldwide.

It's a hobby, albeit a serious hobby, which I enjoy and live in hope that one song may become famous one day.

I am slowly cataloguing all material recorded at Sound Investment Recording Studio on SoundCloud and I am probably about half way through at the moment 14.02.2014.
