

The first thing you notice is the space. Where the original moved with intimate urgency, this version stretches out, unhurried. The drums and tempo move this into dancefloor territory - a kick that breathes rather than punches, percussion that whispers suggestions rather than commands.
Goapele's vocal remains the centre, untouched but reframed. It floats now over waves of sub-bass that roll in and recede like a slow tide. There's a dubwise sensibility to how the elements appear and disappear - that understanding of absence as an instrument in itself.
Around the one-minute mark, the arrangement opens up completely. The melody fragments and scatters, held together only by the bassline and her voice. It's the kind of moment that makes you understand why certain records work at 4am - when clarity comes not from addition but from reduction.
 You can hear the room in it, the air around the instruments, the deliberate imperfection that makes it human.

GOAPLE CLOSER CHRIS WOODWARD 2025 RERUB

I dip in and out of London's electronic scene, piecing together sounds that some might loosely categorise as deep house with a bit of whatever else catches my fancy.
Seem to have this thing for blending nostalgic bits into contemporary frameworks. Makes for decent tunes for late-night city wanderings or those sunrise moments at afters though I realise how naff that sounds.
Can't quite stick to one genre, not because I'm trying to be clever, just chronically indecisive house chords meet techno-ish percussion with a focus on keeping things moving. Hoping it comes across as somewhat timeless yet current, but who knows.
