Are we done tell me now, I forgot don’t know how, girl I need to know. What we talked, talked about, was it love was it doubt, are we in or out. 

Should I leave, to keep my heart from breaking, am I confused upon the words I’m saying, is this love or just the fear I’m facing, in the end.

Are we strangers, or did we just forget our names, are we strangers, will we ever call again.

Was it truth, was it a lie, did I miss all the signs, I think I’m falling behind. Now I’m stuck in my head, replay all the things we said laying in my bed.

Did we fall or were we just pretending Was it real or just a phase that’s ending Are we broken or too scared too feel the pain

Strangers

Our memory. Such a treasure. It allows us to travel in time, sort of. But there is also a lot attached to it, including the memories of people you've lost. And in some ways, memory is like a battery. It weakens over time and years, unfortunately without the possibilty to recharge. So many memories falls off on the way. But can we trust that our memory bank takes care of the most valuable ones?

I’m just a muso from a small country town, that plays music at our local church, and is trying to turn the psalms of the Bible into songs we can sing, both at church and in our day-to-day.

By the Gates of Ai’s Ashes is a project which is rooted in the ancient poetry of the Psalms, blending their raw honesty with melodic depth.
My hope is that this music won't just be for listening; but that it can be useful for learning, remembering, and equipping us with songs and praise through all the ups and downs of life and to bring us face-to-face with the heart of Scripture—whether in the quiet of personal reflection or the gathered voice of the church.

The name, drawn from the ruins of Ai in the book of Joshua, points to both judgment and mercy—to the broken places where grace still meets us. From lament to praise, these Psalms walk the full emotional landscape of faith, with a sound that is both reverent and real.

For the one who’s delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on it day and night, is like a tree planted by streams of water..
