Om mani padme hum é um dos mantras do budismo; o mantra de seis sílabas do Bodisatva da compaixão: Avalokiteshvara. De origem indiana, de lá foi para o Tibete. O mantra é associado ao deus de 4 braços Shadakshari, uma das formas de Avalokiteshvara.

O Dalai Lama é tido como uma emanação de Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara), por isso o mantra é especialmente entoado por seus devotos e é comumente esculpido em rochas e escrito em papéis que são inseridos em rodas de oração ("mani korlo" em tibetano) para potencializar seu efeito.

É o mantra mais entoado pelos budistas tibetanos.

EXCEPTIONALLY WONDERFUL PEOPLE ENTERED MY LIFE, EXCEPTIONALLY WONDERFUL PEOPLE LEFT IT FOREVER. I LOST THREE BELOVED PEOPLE, BUT I ALSO COULD WITNESS HOW NEW LIFE SAW THE LIGHT OF DAY. I BROKE HEARTS, I GOT MINE BROKEN, TOO. 
I COULD PLAY MY FIRST SOLO CONCERTS, AND I’M OVERWHELMED BY THE WARM WELCOME THE AUDIENCE GAVE ME. THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF THIS. IT IS SUCH A RUSH AND I CAN SAY, THAT I NEVER FELT THIS ALIVE BEFORE. INSPIRED BY THESE PERSONAL STORIES I WROTE ELEVEN SONGS, MY „LIFELINES OF MUSIC“. Our Beloved Shyamdas chanting "Shri Krishna Sharanam MaMa."   That day was so special as we chanted along with him.  Our hearts were opened, as always with Shyamdas's amazing soul.  This is one of my favorites, and his voice is so beautiful on it.  Tender, grateful tears would always stream down my face, when I chanted this with him, and he would lovingly say "Lila, when you weep within the mantra, you become the mantra."  

It was recorded on my iPhone as we sat together that day, and I wanted to capture the beauty of that sweet moment, and remember it.    

He touched us all with his complete love for everyone.   

Shyamdas, you are missed, remembered and forever loved.  We are blessed to have known you.
