Playground Love

“The Multiverse” marks my return to music-making after a long hiatus. I began writing and recording the track in January 2023, with a concept that mirrors the duality of existence: two halves of the song that are eerily similar, yet distinctly different-capturing the essence of a deterministic multiverse. (Go ahead, look that up… it’s wild.)

“So then how do you feel?
Knowing you’re living it out on a reel
Can’t you see it now?
The multiverse is playing us for fools somehow”

In April 2025, I dove back in and re-recorded the acoustic guitar, layered in a cleaner electric tone, and re-tracked all the vocals. I also refined the instrumentation with new elements that give the song more depth and dimension.

The second half explodes with distorted electric guitars and a kaleidoscope of sounds, including dueling organ “solos” echoing from both channels-like parallel universes harmonizing. It’s chaotic in the best way.

The final result? A playful, sonically immersive trip through the multiverse that’ll tug on your brain and tickle your ears.

I Stole And Then I Lied is the latest silver pressing of one of the most common Smiths tapes.  This concert was organized and promoted by the Dutch music magazine Vinyl’s fifth anniversary.  It was The Smith’s first concert in a non-English speaking country.  The complete concert was recorded and various subsets were broadcast on KRO radio at different times.

C. Charles Jones is a twenty-first century singer/songwriter, producer, author and poet who resides in the midwestern region of Springfield, Missouri. 

His 2024 debut album “Blowin’ Smoke” is a raw and immersive dive into a blend of both R&B and jazz-folk that consists of an acoustic guitar, piano, saxophone and bongos, all of which he produced himself. Each track on his debut brings forth a new kind of soft spoken, melancholic sound that revolves around the topics of loneliness, individualism and staying “asleep” inside a culture that is “woke” with songs like “Some People,” “Colors,” “We’re Not on the Same Page,” and his radio-hit “I Feel Like I’ve Been Dead All the While Now.”

Jones was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on August 14, 1996.
