CGI is proud to present the debut of 2 new duos who are experts at making their synths and sequencers sweat divine moisture.  Lyman-Alpha Forest is a new collaborative project between producers Grey People (Proper Trax, Finale Sessions) and Talk (Deconstructure).  As a duo they work to bring acid into new territories with their heavy, low-slung approach to producing melodic-and-spacious yet tight-and-focused slow-burning club-weapons.   Whether or not this is due to a stroke of compositional genius or if it is simply a side effect of the high levels of sizzurp found in the tap water in their hometown of Nashville is irrelevant, but the effect is intoxicating all the same.  
	Travel 7 hours up I-65 and you'll end up somewhere in Chicago where Afterburner spends long cold winter nights painting vivid synthesized tapestries as epic as the city's skyline.  The duo of Nicholas Reed (Windbreaker) and Travis Thatcher (Voice Of Saturn) employ an aresnal of modular and analog gear to produce lushly cinematic tracks that chug along like classic Moroder productions while simultaneously evoking the rich melodicism of Kraftwerk.  Whether you listen to them at home in the headphones or on the dancefloor in the club, these tracks will take you on a wild ride.

Composer, improviser, and Buchla Music Easel master Charles Cohen returns to Morphine with a suite of new material. In keeping with the timbre spectrum of his semi-modular system, Brother I Prove You Wrong is built around pointillist analog tones—Cohen's cosmic "beeps and boops"—that swarm and scatter in mesmeric patterns across four sides. Moving through surrealistic textural overlays and industrial miasma, the album's nine tracks reveal a more introspective and personal side of the artist, following from a retrospective LP trilogy released via Morphine in 2013. Those assembled works, dating back to the late '70s, quickly became essential listening and brought Cohen—at the time largely unknown outside Philadelphia's experimental circuit—to critical renown. 

Brother I Prove You Wrong was recorded in Berlin in September 2014 using the Buchla Music Easel, with production help and support from Rabih Beaini. Mastered by Neel and curated and designed by TankBoys; cover art by Nathalie du Pasquier.

A deluge of heavy-hitting support from some of the most legendary titans in dance music marks the return of award-winning Canadian producer Glenn Morrison to the dance floor. 

After a considerable hiatus away from the EDM limelight working as a songwriter and producer for Sony Records and Universal Music Group – in the process bagging Billboard #1 singles and multiple radio awards / certified multi-platinum sales – Morrison is back with brand new long-player ‘Into The Deep’, introduced earlier this week via two double A-side EPs. 

A pure passion project for Morrison, ‘Into The Deep’ is an exquisitely produced piece of work, a true journey of stereosonic discovery. Boasting a sound reminiscent of the critically-acclaimed ‘Northern Exposure’ compilations, Morrison brings an intelligent, thoughtful vibe back to dance music that many feel has been lacking in recent years. From dark, driving, progressive cuts to dreamy, trance-like singles; from throbbing, grinding, tribal tones through to hypnotic, undulating, bass-heavy pieces, this is a world class producer indulging himself and us in sound – doing what he loves and doing it very, very well. 

Standout tracks on the album that premiered earlier this week include ‘Hang Tough’ – where Morrison uses John Harris’ poem ‘The Gospel According to John’ to tell the sordid tale of a drugged out prostitute turning over a normal man to the same hollow lifestyle – and ‘Another Dimension’, a dark and intense build up of sounds swelling through cascading melodies into an eruption of syncopated synth and grand piano riffs that take the track’s sentiment in a completely unexpected direction. Titular track ‘Into The Deep’ lingers delicately on the palate, Morrison taking his time to draw the listener in and out of his creation almost as if we need his sounds to breathe. A little stronger and a little darker, ‘Bumblebee’s driving elements of techno and chugging minimal house underpin deceptively simplistic top layers making it perfect for those mid-set progressions in the early morning hours or, as Morrison suggests, “Space Ibiza terrace early night kind of vibe.”

“I needed to get back to writing these instrumental pieces where the riffs are the vocal lines, and the vibe is a sort of hypnotic mysticism mixed with late night mind bending chasers,’ Morrison continues. ‘‘Into the Deep’ is a celebration of forward thinking progressive house music; a dash of eccentric and brash synth melodies juxtaposed with bright, uppity grand piano chords and warped out arpeggiations that I hope will light up both dance floors and late night music sessions the world over.”

For our next installment of the AYLI podcast, we’re honored to bring you Berlin based, British born, Tanstaafl Records label-head John Osborn. He made his North America debut for us in 2012 alongside 2562 at the Beatbox, followed that morning by a 6 AM session at the legendary 222 Hyde.

We first discovered Osborn through his August ’10 Mnml Ssg podcast. It’s still a favorite of ours and helped to define our sound. John shared with us one of our earliest AYLI podcasts. It’s rare that we release second podcasts from artists and even rarer for us to release a podcast without an upcoming planned performance. However, when the opportunity came to release his second AYLI podcast, we jumped at it. Take a moment to dig into this special “after-hours” session. Quality.

@NeinRecords label boss Tronik Youth aka Neil Parnell debuts on @Roam-Recordings with his new EP Tunnel of Hate. Over the years Tronik Youth has made an indelible mark in dance music through his many and varied outstanding productions, his seminal monthly radio show, and his prolific record label.

The Tunnel of Hate EP showcases two original offerings from the artist. The title track starts the collection with 80s tinged industrial disco while Insecticide blasts of post apocalyptic electro punk.

The EP also comes with three excellent and diverse remixes. Mexican producer @Rigopolar, known for his stunning productions on labels such as Tom Tom Disco and Spa in Disco, takes on Tunnel of Hate and remixes it into an epic dark disco number that begs for smoke machines and lasers. The second remix comes from none other than legendary dance music innovator The Hacker and rounding out the EP is a remix from Australian duo Stockholm Syndrome.

This is one of our stand out releases of 2017 and all tracks combine into a cohesive dark, disco, industrial, new beat infused offering perfect for smoky warehouse parties, dim lit after parties, and edgy late night affairs.
