Born and brought up in Upper Coll on the east coast of the island of Lewis in the Western Isles, Margaret Stewart first came to people’s attention as a singer when she won the Gold Medal in 1991 at the Royal National Mod.

She has spent the last 20 years bringing traditional Gaelic singing to the four corners of the globe. Margaret has recorded three studio albums in total and her most recent CD “Togaidh mi mo Sheòlta” is testament to her long established links with performers from the Irish Gaeltacht. Margaret was awarded Musician in Residence at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig in 2012 and is presently undertaking post-graduate research position as well as performing, delivering recitals and teaching short courses.
