SONG NOTES and LYRICS:
I wrote this song about an imaginary character born and raised on the Mississippi, growing up to be a music man. It's not based on anybody real, but is a kind of tribute to all (blues) musicians down the ages, who have developed their own style of playing and have become admired by future generations. I was inspired to learn to play the guitar listening to great guitar players and fascinated by their ability to simultaneously play a bass line, percussive rhythm and melody, while singing at the same time. (For guitar players interested in how this song is played, it is capo'd at the first fret and played in Bflat, using the thumb on the left hand to play bass notes while stretching fingers 3 and 4 for hammer-ons.). Hope you like it!

Quite some time ago, I made a quick “live” recording of this classic old Beatles song. It was just to serve as an example of how Nat & I might try doing a proper recording at some future time. But as Nat has so often managed to do, she added her beautiful harmonies and piano work and other production touches to make something out of it that we both now feel is well worthwhile. This song was written by John Lennon and released on the 1965 Beatles album “Help!”.

Jazz variations made after listening to a rap track by Dtrot the Pilot, a vast talent....first time listening...and I mean really listening... to a rap track....specifically....listening to the musical patterns. After immersion in Dtrot the Pilot's track (Whatcha Feelin) for over an hour...this came out. Thank you Dtrot. You inspired me.

This song came together as a result of my passion for acoustic instruments. From mandolins to harmonicas, I really enjoyed piecing it all together. "Little White Lights" speaks of lost love softened by the power of hope. Percussion by Pete Diggens, Violin by Nick Gellner and backing vocals in the chorus by Lizi Foan.
