New Bass Day! I finally got myself my own bass, a Yamaha TRBX 305 and I thought I'd make a wee clip to test it out. I'm also using my Ibanez RG8 for this clip.

I absolutely love the split coil neck pickup tone that is used on TesseracT's new album Polaris and since I my Mayones Regius 7 has a split coil, I thought I'd try and get a similar sort of tone by recording a little mixtest/TesseracT rip off!

I've recently just upgraded my Axe FX II firmware up to Quantum and finally got a Superior Drummer SDX in Metal Machinery. It feels really refreshing to be working on a new mix with new stuff after working with the same old things for so long! Let me know what I could work on!

Axe FX II Quantum Firmware/Metal Machinery SDX Mixtest

Cirrocumulus

Another mixtest with the new Axe-FX II Quantum Firmware and the Metal Machinery SDX, playing a section of 'The Bad Thing' by Periphery. I've tuned up a step to BADGBE (lol, there's even the word 'Bad' in the tuning) because my 6 strings are always in standard or drop D, not drop C.

Made a few tweaks to the drums and the overall mix. I'm still trying to get the levels right and the drums also seem to jump up in volume during fills, but it's something that I'll get in time I think!

The Bad Thing Mixtest

Another track from the upcoming album. This one ended up sounding quite different from the others so there is a lot of variety on this one! Zantilla really brought this song to life with the synths/strings.

Following the worldwide success of the 'Paul's Boutique' remix project 'Caught In The Middle of A 3 Way Mix'  (produced with fellow Solid Steel DJs; Moneyshot and DJ Food) DJ Cheeba returns with another documentary style mix charting the huge influence and mass appeal of arguably the greatest rock band of all time: Led Zeppelin. 

This mix has been made to coincide with the release of  'Celebration Day' and digs chronologically through the band's first six albums (1969-1975), picking out key tracks, their influences, subsequent covers and some of the notable examples of where they were sampled in hip hop, dance music and pop.

From 'Good Times, Bad Times' to 'Kashmir' this is a DJ mix made for everyone from the die hard fans who were there in 69' to the kids who only know the name from the iconic tee shirts. Turn it up loud... there's no other way to hear it!
