THE CANARY I

The Gog Magogs are various inanimate objects within Lane's house that speak to Lane. Their relationship with Lane varies from supportive, to antagonistic.

[S Y M P A T H E T I C]
Lane's shower drain. It derives pleasure from Lane venting about his frustrations, fears, regrets, woes, and shame. Lane subconsciously regresses into a mental state akin to that of a meek child whenever he is near S Y M P A T H E T I C. S Y M P A T H E T I C has the ability to erase Lane's memories. 
It is the only Gog Magog to call Lane by his given first name, Dave.

[S E N T I M E N T A L]
Lane's pillow. S E N T I M E N T A L speaks to Lane at night when he sleeps. S E N T I M E N T A L works to bring out Lane's most cherished memories and amplify them in his dreams. 

[T H A L I T E]
Lane's floor lamp in the living room. It is constantly keeping tabs on everything in the house. It enjoys spreading rumors and sowing malcontent.

[T H A T E E V E E]
Lane's television. It is openly known among the Gog Magogs- and even by Lane himself, that T H A T E E V E E is working relentlessly to poison Lane's mind. The other Gog Magogs express displeasure that T H A T E E V E E and S Y M P A T H E T I C are working together to convince Lane to commit suicide.
T H A T E E V E E's name is a joke- spawned from when it was initially choosing a name for itself. It became incredulous over the lamp calling itself T H A L I T E, stating that it was one of the stupidest things it had ever heard- but also one of the funniest.
T H A T E E V E E and T H A L I T E are in love with each other. T H A T E E V E E at one point forces Lane to hold a marriage ceremony for the two Gog Magogs one night in front of a local electronics store.

[M O S H I]
Lane's phone. It has a feminine child-like voice and is very chipper. It wants nothing more than for Lane to be proud of it.
A recurring event throughout the story involves M O S H I receiving a call from someone claiming to be God and wanting to speak with Lane on the phone. The voice on the phone will speak with Lane about his various hobbies- though any change of subject attempted by Lane is consistently ignored.

[N O B O D Y]
Lane's oven. Lane has a nervous tick that compels him to clean his oven as a stress-relieving activity whenever he is overwhelmed. N O B O D Y is vocally resistant to these frequent cleanings and pleads with Lane to "feed" it ashes and let the Gog Magog experience "what it feels like to be dirty". N O B O D Y has the inexplicable ability to tell Lane information about people and events outside of the house.

[T R U E]
Lane's toaster. This Gog Magog is hysterically disgusted by Lane. It screams whenever Lane enters the kitchen. Lane despises T R U E but is forced to keep her around because of her ability. Toast that is made using T R U E is the only thing that can make Lane's frequent migraines go away.

[A U T O M A T I C]
Lane's M16 rifle. This Gog Magog has an extremely masculine personality and enjoys giving Lane encouragement. The more it can get Lane hyped up, the more excited it becomes. 

[H A M I L T O N]
Lane's microwave. It has the habit of  spouting out puns, dad jokes, and offensive quips- all of which Lane finds irritating. Of all the Gog Magogs, H A M I L T O N is the closest one to being thrown out by Lane.
It has the ability to warn Lane of any coming dangers and enjoys telling Lane how many more days he has left before he dies. The amount of time until Lane's death changes frequently based on the choices he makes.

This is not actually a Gog Magog- but the nickname Lane gives to Mary Monterose. Dream Drop was the title of Mary's debut album and Lane's favorite record of all time.
