Russian House music star Tripmastaz releases his second EP for I'm A House Gangster, following 'Gangsta Beatz' back in April. An influential player in House circles since the late 90's, Tripmastaz' music can be found on top labels including Be As One, Moon Harbour, Cecille, Magnetic and his own label Plant 74 - all solid proponents of the House Gangster culture.

'Roll Back' sees the St. Petersburg producer deliver two new tracks and an instrumental.  The title track features DJ Sneak's growling spoken vocal over Tripmastaz’ snapping beats, throbbing baseline and grainy synths.  'Rollin Mars' is a more groovy affair with a warm baseline rolling under jacking beats and jazzy horn stabs.

On making the tracks, Tripmastaz comments, “At first I tweaked that old school analog sounding synth and made that fat ass beat in one hour, showed it to Sneak, next thing I know he is warming up his mic to spit his ghetto rhymes over that beat. So it was done fast and furious.  I call this 'GUTTA' music, which is raw, pushy, dusty, punchy and real, just like I’m A House Gangster.”

Kungs Vs. Cookin' On 3 Burners - This Girl

For the debut release on my own new label IPSO with Kompakt Records, I wanted to try something different. The new label, IPSO is for me to invite a friend or a hero, - someone I admire musically to do a collaboration.
I’ve long been a fan of limiting myself in the studio. 
Sometimes working with less equipment brings out the best in you, so for the first release I figured it would be interesting to experiment with this. 
Inspired by the danish dogma films, I decided to make a rule. 
As I’m not one for overdoing things, the rule is very simple.
We are only allowed to use one instrument.
I reached out to my friend and all time hero Michael Mayer to do the first collab. 
Other than being co-founder of the mighty Kompakt records, and signing me in 2009, he is a genius in a dj Booth and a great producer. 
He has always been a great inspiration to me, so we agreed to start of my new Label with a bang. 
I set out the challenge, that Michael should choose the instrument. 
As I arrived in Cologne, Michael had chosen an old Yamaha Organ. Funny side note, is that it is actually Jörg Burgers organ. Jörg is actually quiet the legend himself, but that is another story. 
Michael and I spent 1 day in the studio, and we had a blast. 
The outcome is 2 great pieces of music that I'm very proud to share with you. RELEASE DIGITAL & VINYL - MAY 20

Over Christmas 2014 I needed a break from recording
my album, searching online for a song I recalled from
my youth, I fell into a rabbit hole of thousands of
YouTube playlists and posts, rediscovering the songs
my friends and I would gather and listen to as
13 & 14 yr olds every Saturday in East Berlin on Radio DT64
(now Berlin's Radio Fritz).

I stumbled back to the future, collecting over 5000 songs
on YouTube, learning for the first time the artists behind
the songs we heard almost 25 years ago.

The forthcoming trilogy is the result of 18 month
of building edits from YouTube recordings and stitching
them together off-line. I could not include every song,
nor indeed even the entire tracks from this small period
until 1993, so this is my personal history of electronic
music arriving in Berlin.

This trilogy will not be sold, it was a labor of love,
born of nostalgia and made for sharing.
