"I was always a big fan of the 70's Fania records but I could never dance to that music properly. I know I'm not alone here. I lived in Latin countries for years, got some friends to help me overcome my motor coordination issues, watched dozens of youtube tutorials but it didn't help. The best I could do while hearing those records was to nod my head like it was another hip-hop tune. So after having wasted numerous flirting opportunities with Latin girls over the past decade I decided to transpose Celia Cruz's music into some more familiar rhythm patterns. I tried to keep the craziness and the passionate feel while adding some of my own head-nodding (and discreet hips shaking) music culture. Made in Dublin Tropical, North side of the Liffey, while experiencing an incredibly mild winter."

Upon return from a recent trip to the deepest of crates in Colombia, Cut Chemist and Beats of All-Nations sought out to remix a unique set of dusty records, each different from the last, with an equally diverse list of producers. Going Back to Cali: Cut Chemist’s Colombian Crates Remixed is MORE THAN CUMBIA, its a reflection on a tropical culture rich in spirit, creativity and passion strung together with field recordings found along the way. These records were bought in Cali, Colombia during Patronio Alvarez Festival last year, hence the name. 

Our trip begins with folklore Colombiano favorites Los Corraleros de Majagual over a crunchy boom-bap by Co. Fee from Los Angeles’ beat collective, My Hollow Drum. Dance Kill Move (Stockholm, Sweden) adds some serious low end to Los Jovenes de Hierro’s classic charanga, “Ritmo Sabroso.” Ubiquity recording artist, currently residing in Colobmia, Bosq and Yukicito of La Junta (Los Angeles) contribute absolute party starters, while El Dusty’s “Mi Chola” give Los Teen Agers a taste Corpus Christi, TX. Atropolis (Queens) pays homage with a heavy stripped down edit of Julio y su Combo’s “Lamento Cumbiambero” and Los Chicos Altos (Barcelona) add in some rub-a-dub flavor on Los Hermanos Tuiran’s “Lluvia.” In addition we explore national treasures and the lesser known, new styles of chirimía, porro, pachanga, salsa and cumbia as interpreted by Sumohair (Los Angeles), Gabe Real (Pomona CA) and Greece duo SUPERSAN (aka Panama Cardoon & Mister Centro). Kansado is a Dominican American producer, multi-instrumentalist, graphic designer and laid back introvert. He sits somewhere between jazz, latin music, and experimental hiphop. Currently exploring his Caribbean identity Kansado fuses future beats and afro-latin music to create an infectious combo of percussive genre bending sounds.

“Futuro” is spanish for future and “Tumbao” carries two meanings. One, a common rhythm found in afro- latin music, and two, swagger. Drawing inspiration from a backdrop of salsa, son, bachata and reggaeton Kansado’s Futuro Tumbao is a nod to his Caribbean heritage. Growing up in a Dominican household Kansado is no stranger to rhythm and percussion. As a kid his childhood home was filled with the sounds of some of the greatest Latin musicians of the last 50 years: Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, and Johnny Ventura to name a few. Over time his musical tastes ventured into new waters exploring the more experimental hiphop sounds of producers like Flying Lotus, Tokimonsta, and Nujabes.
Futuro Tumbao is Kansado coming full circle creating a bridge between these two phases of his life. Heavy 808s, mellow rhodes, trap snares, and bouncing synths meet percussive congas, rolling timbales and live trumpets to create a soundscape rooted in afro-latin soul presented in a futuristic package.

“El sonido de Caballito refleja el calor, la alegría, las raíces, las ganas de mover el culo, el sudor, la buena onda...”
Caballito da a luz en una cálida Granada en septiembre de 2010, fruto del reencuentro entre Bigote y Grita, dos auténticos exploradores y recicladores de los ritmos latinoamericanos.
Pioneros en nuestro país en esta corriente ElecTropical que poco a poco va invadiendo todo el globo, empiezan sus andadas publicando varias mixtapes en su propia web y en distintos blogs del subterráneo movimiento. Pronto decidirían ilustrar sus mezclas con una explosión de gifs animados, vídeos y colores estridentes y muy chillones (creados por ellos, son también apasionados de la imagen), creando así un entorno psicodélico, divertido y uniforme. Fue entonces cuando Grita y Bigote decidieron lanzarse a la producción estableciendo su propio netlabel, siguiendo la línea de la licencia libre (Creative Commons). De esta forma, todo lo publicado en Caballito, ya sean producciones suyas o de otros artistas, fluye libremente por la red.

Caballito is born in Granada, in September 2010, when Daniel aka Bigote and David aka Grita meet again. It was a while since these two guys were checking out traditional Latino-American rhythms and discovering the Digital Cumbia, new Tropical style emerging all around the world.
Caballito, pioneer in our Country within this musical current, started publishing mixtapes in his own web and in different blogs, with the intention of breaking our hips. But quickly this world was too small for them, so they started to flood us with videos and psychedelic gifs. Was at that time when Grita y Bigote jumped into production creating their own netlabel, whose phylosophy follow the free licence idea. All the stuff published - their own productions and the collaborators’ ones - all flow freely through the web.
