El sonido Graveton tiene su origen a finales de 2010 en los estudios caseros de djs y productores de países de todo el mundo. Producciones analógicas o digitales de baja calidad pero con mucho ingenio a la hora de usar los ritmos de la cumbia y el reggaeton para procesarlos con samples del folclore andino, colombiano y mexicano. Con los años y los avances tecnológicos las producciones iban adquiriendo mayor calidad en cuanto a sonido y a contenido artístico. Aunque siempre hay excepciones, los más radicales y ortodoxos que aún conservan la manera primigenia de producir y ejecutar piezas de graveton. Es lo que se conoce como graveton lofi o graveton casero.

En la actualidad decenas de artistas siguen produciendo graveton en sus estudios, centenares de djs lanzan tracks de graveton en cientos de clubs de todo el mundo y miles de personas bailan graveton cada semana en las pistas de baile de diferentes clubs, fiestas locales o cualquier tipo de evento con carácter festivo o cultural.
Etimológicamente graveton proviene del sonido de frecuencia baja o grave, en inglés bass, y el sufijo ton del mismo sufijo que en reggaeton. Al ser producto de una mala producción el prefijo grave señala ese carácter desafortunado de la obra.

As we get ready for a busy summer, of spreading the sound of tomorrow across the globe, we can't help but take a step back and bring you all the feel good, forward thinking music you know and love from Soulection. This installment of our White Label series comes from 18 year old London composer, songwriter, guitarist, singer & violinist, Tom Misch. We felt the need to list all of this in the description, because each track is such an audio masterpiece. This one is for everyone, but true fans of Dilla, and smooth, mellow, R&B inspired hip-hop beats, will definitely enjoy this release.

Camilo Lara aka Mexican Institute of Sound and Toy Selectah have been mainstays of the Latin American music scene for some time. Brazilian bass music lately has done quantum leaps. For long, Brazil was excluded from affordable technology due to absurd custom taxes. Today, thanks to the internet, young producers from across Brazil get unprecedented access to cracked software, online tutorials and music from around the world like never before. The result is a huge new wave from Brazil of bass music inspired music hybrids that fuse the best homegrown grooves with transnational low-end elements. New genres such as baile trap, favela twerk or rasteirinha are represented by newcomers such as Tropkillaz, Omulu, Sants, Cybass and last but not least, Viní.

Viní is a 22 year old producer and DJ from São Paulo, who has long been influenced by international bass music but also by the vibes of the "fluxos" - the baile funk culture on the streets of São Paulo´s outskirts. Man Recordings inspired Viní since his adolescence when he used to listen all volumes of the seminal "Funk Mundial" series. This series brought producers from Europe and the US such as Stereotyp, Sinden, Oliver Dollar or Feadz amongst others, together with baile funk MCs from Rio and anticipated today´s Brazil bass sound. Viní says: "For me it's a great honour to write my name in the history of the label that inspired me at the beginning, where I could see big names of the current scene as Diplo, Crookers, Douster, Deize Tigrona, Edu K and many others releasing tracks that have become classics."

Viní named his debut after "Coringa", the Portuguese equivalent name for the split personality character of The Joker in Batman. It´s a tribute to role plays which are popular amongst São Paulo youths using names and dress elements from comic villains, easily to adopt, yet associated with a badass character and dress style, a Paulista interpretation of swag.

On the bass heavy opening track of the EP, "Vai", Viní moves from an 808 driven crunk beat into dembow territory, "Bandida Arlequina" sports the seductive rasteirinha beat, a fusion of baile funk and dembow, which currently is all the rage in Brazil. "Agente De Caos" kicks off with an amazing collage of the urban sounds audible at the "fluxos", motorcycle roaring, police sirens, gun shots and frantic laughter which leads into another rasteirinha groove. And finally, there´s "Coringa" in which rasteirinha clashes onto trap inspired grooves.

Viní - Agente Do Caos

Enchufada head honcho Branko really does rack up the air miles on his material. His debut solo album ATLAS arrives on September 4th - the result of a musical pilgrimage across 3 continents, collaborating with 20+ artists at the Red Bull Studios in Amsterdam, Cape Town, New York, Lisbon and São Paulo. That final stop-off saw him buddy up with baile funk superstar MC Bin Laden and nascent tag-team, Marginal Men.

Today we present one of the fruits of that meet up. "Louca" is minimal in its approach; still dressed in Afro-Brazilian pitter-patter and no less sprightly, but drizzled with a near-grime bleakness rather than bleepy pandemonium.

What's more, on September 4th we'll be joining forces with Red Bull São Paulo in celebration of Branko dusting off his LP. Branko, MC Bin Laden and Marginal Men will be joined by local starlet, Viní, for a special broadcast from the centre of Brazil's most populous city. Caballito da a luz en una cálida Granada en septiembre de 2010, fruto del reencuentro entre Bigote y Grita, dos auténticos exploradores y recicladores de los ritmos latinoamericanos.
Pioneros en nuestro país en esta corriente ElecTropical que poco a poco va invadiendo todo el globo, empiezan sus andadas publicando varias mixtapes en su propia web y en distintos blogs del subterráneo movimiento. Pronto decidirían ilustrar sus mezclas con una explosión de gifs animados, vídeos y colores estridentes y muy chillones (creados por ellos, son también apasionados de la imagen), creando así un entorno psicodélico, divertido y uniforme. Fue entonces cuando Grita y Bigote decidieron lanzarse a la producción estableciendo su propio netlabel, siguiendo la línea de la licencia libre (Creative Commons). De esta forma, todo lo publicado en Caballito, ya sean producciones suyas o de otros artistas, fluye libremente por la red.

Caballito is born in Granada, in September 2010, when Daniel aka Bigote and David aka Grita meet again. It was a while since these two guys were checking out traditional Latino-American rhythms and discovering the Digital Cumbia, new Tropical style emerging all around the world.
Caballito, pioneer in our Country within this musical current, started publishing mixtapes in his own web and in different blogs, with the intention of breaking our hips. But quickly this world was too small for them, so they started to flood us with videos and psychedelic gifs. Was at that time when Grita y Bigote jumped into production creating their own netlabel, whose phylosophy follow the free licence idea. All the stuff published - their own productions and the collaborators’ ones - all flow freely through the web.
