Grande est la maison – Cabane’s first album is the outcome of Belgian composer Thomas Jean Henri bringing together the American Will Oldham (Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy) and English musician Kate Stables (This Is The Kit), to perform some songs arranged by Sean O’Hagan (The High Llamas) ; a dream line-up for this collection of tunes, bordering on both folk and orchestral pop. Far from the maddening sounds, ‘Grande est la maison’ will be a warm shelter for lovers of Nick Drake or Vashti Bunyan.

Bio :
Charles Danet's new album release MELANCHOMEDY
has been available since January 19th 2024
on all streaming platforms,
in collaboration with Libzik,
a Music Library agency. 

It's mostly an instrumental album 
which releases all the French musician's love 
for vintage psychedelic pop,
with a strong cinematic flavour. 

Charles has recently settled in Annecy 
where he has been creating, recording 
and producing the tracks for his new album, 
which has taken him over a year,
with a little help from his friends. 

All tracks on MELANCHOMEDY 
are mixed by Gauthier Havel
and mastered by Soundburner (Libzik).

While recording, Charles collaborated 
with a few musicians, including :
Stoic Faces / Paul Antoine Maschio
(guitar, drums, vocals) 
Elsa Thomasson (backing vocals)
Florian Hirle (bass, drums),
Hugo Fonfon (flute),
Ayde Deniz Birdal (cello).

Nourri au biberon du folk américain, de Dylan à Cohen, en passant par Townes Van Zandt, Baptiste W. Hamon délaisse peu à peu les influences américaines qui l’ont fait rêver enfant pour renouer avec ses racines françaises. Parti au Texas sur les traces de ses idoles, le Parisien d’origine découvre aussi la chanson réaliste française : les mots et les mélodies de Brel, Barbara, Reggiani l’inspirent adroitement. Sans pour autant renier son héritage folk/country, il écrit désormais dans la langue de Molière, comme une évidence. Jouant avec une voix frêle et éraillée, le jeune auteur-compositeur-interprète évolue dans un registre plus sombre, poétique et mélancolique. Découvrir Baptiste W. Hamon c’est « quitter l’enfance » avec talent.
