Born in 1978, Luciano is a DJ since 1993 and a producer since 1997. In the mid-90's, he was promoting Sense Club and Encuentros con la Technocultura in Santiago de Chile in the company of many initiators of the Latin American electronic music scene: Senor Coconut AKA Atom Heart, Ricardo Villalobos, Dandy Jack and brother Adrian Schopf, Washington Miranda, Argenix Brito, Microman etc.

He's played radio stations and DJed clubs and events in Santiago and Latin America, Germany, Spain and Holland, settling in Switzerland in 2000 to release on Mental Groove Records in Geneva, where he also holds a residency at the Weetamix club. His releases appear on the Transmat, Perlon, Lo-Fi Stereo, Bruchstuecke and Klang Elektronik record labels.

Luciano's mixed Swiss and Chilean identity shows in his music, a somewhat mystical blend of deep techno and electro that integrates southern elements in rhythms and colorful patterns in sound. His collaborations with Ricardo Villalobos (Playhouse, Perlon, Warp, Force Inc etc.) as Sense Club are especially rewarding, as is his partnership with Pier Bucci and Argenix Brito as Monne Automne.

Mellowing his style as times goes by, getting more experimental and spacey with a fresh style of his own, Luciano’s production is destined to the wiser dancefloors that have enjoyed his live sets in Peru, Chile, Argentina, the U.S., Spain, Germany and Switzerland. DJ-wise, Luciano’s trade relies on groovy and minimal.

'Rise Of Angel' is the brand new single from Luciano, and the first single to be taken from his forthcoming album, due in 2013.  However, for the many thousands of dedicated music fans who have made the pilgrimage to Luciano's hugely successful parties this Summer in Ibiza (the weekly Ushuaia sessions and Vagabundos at Pacha), or the many Cadenza parties around Europe and North America, 'Rise Of Angel' has already become the signature tune and musical hi-light in Luciano's sets, making its release a highly anticipated moment for the Cadenza faithful.

Clocking in at over 15 minutes, 'Rise Of Angel' is an epic slice of modern electronic dance music, the simply Balearic, synth and piano driven hook gently builds and teases with cinematic intent, the light percussion and organic beats working the old Luciano magic, it's no wonder that 'Rise Of Angel' has become one of the most talked about tracks of the Ibiza season this year.

For the remixes, Luciano has kept it in the family, enlisting the duties of fellow Cadenza artists Mirko Loko, UNER and Andrea Oliva to all lend their unique production styles to a solid set of reinterpretations.  The vinyl 12" is coupled with Mirko Loko's pulsating robotic workout, adding a more beats driven take on Luciano's original, and delving into the bass for a heavyweight techno flecked remix.

And bolstering the digital package, UNER weighs in with a dubbed out, rolling drum version, using the vocal FX to support the groove whilst the pianos ride over the mix, and Andrea Oliva goes straight for the 4/4 jugular with a remix that builds solid tribal beats to a crescendo, adding a new dimension to the Original with a choice vocal section.

'Rise Of Angel' will be Luciano's first release on his own Cadenza label since 2010's Lucien-N-Luciano's 'Cuidad De Luz' EP, and marks the start of another big chapter in his career, having spent the last couple of years building a passionate audience through hundreds of DJ performances around the world, the Vagabundos events and collaborating musically with artists such as Pharrrell (Neptunes) and Lenny Kravitz.  His forthcoming album will be his second full length collection (following 2009's ‘Tribute To The Sun’), and his label, Cadenza Records, will celebrate its 10th anniversary, so the future certainly looks bright for the Chilean producer and DJ.

Cadenza Records kick starts it’s 10th year in the game with ‘Hunter’, a release that balances the warm and cinematic productions of Martin Patino’s original mixes, with the dark and powerful remix by young upstart, Julien Bracht.

With previous releases and remixes on labels such as Freerange, Suara, Trapez and Rotary Cocktail, Patino is carving out an expansive and eclectic deep house sound, and his talents are perfectly captured on this release.  ‘Your Lips, Underwater’ is a track that’s been bubbling under for many months, a percussive and melodic groove wrapped together with heavy analogue bass and teasing jazzy keys.

Title track ‘Hunter’, featuring the vocals of Astrid Hald, is a powerful, brooding production.  The house groove develops perfectly, with the melancholic vocal back dropped by the dramatic and haunting pianos and strings, evoking shades of Massive Attack production values.  ‘Hunter’ is a stunning and very original piece.

Cadenza’s newest signing, Julien Bracht, supplies a remix of ‘Hunter’, offering up an all-together different shade to the original.  Aptly titled the ‘Darkmix’, Bracht gets busy deconstructing and reconstructing, taking just mangled snippets of the vocal with swathes of rumbling, aquatic bass washing over the reverb soaked, drum heavy routine.  Deadly!


Martin Patiño - Your Lips, Underwater

Alex Niggemann’s 2012-defining long player 'Paranoid Funk' dropped in June to a rapturous response from DJs, dancers and home listeners alike. Here, Poker Flat Recordings revisits some of the exceptional highlights of that record, and deliver a remix package sure to be as equally sought-after by those in the know.
'Paranoid Funk' saw the Berlin resident explore a variety of grooves and textures, an experiment that won him many new admirers and a great deal of critical acclaim. Here, some of the hottest remix talent in the scene get their hands on the originals and twist them into new shapes.

Following on from releases on Cocoon, Kling Klong, Circle and two strong EPs on Poker Flat ("Dinosaurs" and "This") renowned producers Alex Flatner and LOPAZZ take on 'Don’t Wait' and drop a growling, main room monster that will standout in any set.
Francys, the young Italian making quiet a name for himself on the underground house and techno circuit, lends his skills to 'Back 2 Basics feat. Benji' – channeling the spirit of the early 90s into seven ecstatic minutes.

Next up is Salvatore Freda – the highly respected Swiss DJ and producer who injects Niggemann’s 'I Don’t Care' with a narcotic groove that sits somewhere between Detroit and Berlin – the dubbed out vocals adding an element of otherworldliness that work in perfect compliment to the track’s twisted (paranoid) funk.
Berlin’s own Andre Lodemann picks out 'Lovers' for his excursion, a deep bomb that grows and grows around an exceptional vocal from John Rydell - this is one for the very late nights or early mornings.

Digital customers also get a super special bonus track from man-of-the-moment James What – the young Brit drops a trademark slice of sexy, upfront house music though his remix of 'I Don’t Care'. Essential.

What is clear from this release is that Alex Niggemann’s star continues to rise – the classical pianist turned producer and DJ extraordinaire is moving on to the next phase of his career – and with the slew of outstanding releases to his name already, who is to say where that could lead.

Luciano breezes into Cadenza Music’s 10th anniversary year with a new single, ‘Cachai’/’Dance Unity’, released on February 25th.  

Whereas previous single ‘Rise Of Angel’ came from the heart, this brace of new music comes strictly from the mind; heady, experimental dancefloor tracks with an air of futurism to them that sets the scene for Luciano’s next album, due this year, quite nicely.

‘Cachai’ fuses a bouncing, morning groove with stabbing operatic vocals and searing strings, light organ keys keeping the backbone of this decidedly trippy and minimal production, Luciano taking things back to the basics…

‘Dance Unity’ keeps things in the similar vein, raw and minimal electronic drums, furry snares and an attention to the finer details, with hallucinatory blips, bleeps and haunting keys weaving their magic over the tracks 15 minute tenure.  Luciano provides the call to the dancefloor, with ‘Dance Unity’s’ lyric, and a fitting message in light of Cadenza’s 10 year achievements.

Following on from 2012's huge Palua EP, UNER returns to Cadenza Records in May with a brand new EP.  Featuring two tracks (and a bonus digital track), the 'Nagual EP' delivers once more, with UNER very much at the top of his game.  

'Bonheur (Part 1)' is a definate 'journey' track, spreading itself out over 12 minutes with a booming yet sophisticated tribal rhythm, and infectious melody line and light keys that worms around the rhythm, ticking all the right boxes for a modern day house record.

On the flip, 'La Playa (Part 2)' maintains the energy levels, with a bright and urgent rhythm track, with gliding and random keys, percussive effects and melting synths all jostling for position, its discordancy creating the intensity and mood of this piece.
