This week our special guests on the Cadenza Source to Cycle are Monkey Safari, the German duo made up of brothers Lars and Sven.  Launching their label WhatWhat Records and their musical collaboration back in 2008, the pair have gone on to release their music on labels like Mambo, Jackmode and Monaberry.  The brothers are now focusing on their latest label, Hommage, and will be releasing their second full length album soon, the follow up to 2012’s Happy Body Music.

On this week’s Cadenza Music Source to Cycle session, we welcome a very familiar name from the house music fraternity. Pit Waldmann, AKA Gorge, has been a consistent and ever reliable provider of the beats for quite some time now. Producing music and DJing since the 1990’s

Alongside Nick Curly, Gorge set up the 8Bit Records label in in 2006 swiftly followed by his new imprint in 2014 with his old friend SKAI called Re: Fresh Your Mind.

A platform for the music of Gorge and Curly, the 8Bit label also released music from the likes of Johnny D, Peace Division, Oxia, Mendo, Santé, Sidney Charles and many more.

Gorge has also gone on to feature on labels such as Freerange, Plastic City and Objektivity. 

He also continues to DJ regularly, and has played many of the world's most esteemed night spots such as Cielo in New York, Space in Ibiza, DEdge and Warung.

So, yes as you can tell, there has been a lot of Wolf + Lamb in our lives lately.Â  From their unstoppable afterhours parties at the famed Marcy Hotel, to their recent leap from digital-only to a vinyl imprint, to the success of their all-star roster (Lee Curtiss, Seth Troxler, Shaun Reeves, Nicholas Jaar, Le Loup, etc) it is safe to say that Wolf + Lamb are headed in the right direction.

For those that don’t know, Wolf + Lamb (aka Wuss + Lame) is the Brooklyn based tag team of Zev Eisenberg and Gadi Mizrahi.Â  These guys are more than just DJs/Producers.Â  Together their combined vision has brought to life an entire lifestyle brand which promotes underground culture, music, events, design, clothing, Frisbees, chocolates, a fake boutique hotel/afterhours paradise, burning man installations, Talmudic studies and so much more.

We’ve been after these guys for a podcast for a while now, so here we present a 60 min mix of almost all forthcoming releases on the Wolf + Lamb label.Â  Check out the track list and maybe you’ll recognize a track or two.Â  Rumor has it that they will be releasing bootlegs soon as well, BWAHAHHAHAHA :)

Look out for Wolf + Lamb’s upcoming release the “Brooklynn EP” (WLM003) due out on vinyl March 9th. In the mid-90's, he was promoting Sense Club and Encuentros con la Technocultura in Santiago de Chile in the company of many initiators of the Latin American electronic music scene: Senor Coconut AKA Atom Heart, Ricardo Villalobos, Dandy Jack and brother Adrian Schopf, Washington Miranda, Argenix Brito, Microman etc.

He's played radio stations and DJed clubs and events in Santiago and Latin America, Germany, Spain and Holland, settling in Switzerland in 2000 to release on Mental Groove Records in Geneva, where he also holds a residency at the Weetamix club. His releases appear on the Transmat, Perlon, Lo-Fi Stereo, Bruchstuecke and Klang Elektronik record labels.

Luciano's mixed Swiss and Chilean identity shows in his music, a somewhat mystical blend of deep techno and electro that integrates southern elements in rhythms and colorful patterns in sound. His collaborations with Ricardo Villalobos (Playhouse, Perlon, Warp, Force Inc etc.) as Sense Club are especially rewarding, as is his partnership with Pier Bucci and Argenix Brito as Monne Automne.

Mellowing his style as times goes by, getting more experimental and spacey with a fresh style of his own, Luciano’s production is destined to the wiser dancefloors that have enjoyed his live sets in Peru, Chile, Argentina, the U.S., Spain, Germany and Switzerland. DJ-wise, Luciano’s trade relies on groovy and minimal.

Mendo means it when he says, “Music is the most important thing in my life.” The striking new star of the Cadenza crew has devoted 18 years of his life to dance music – and he is bursting with enthusiasm for the next 18.

Born in Geneva to Spanish parents, Mendo’s first encounter with electronic music was through pirate radio. Fascinated, he borrowed some music gear. Then his mother bought him Technotronic’s “Pump Up The Jam” and he was on his way to becoming a DJ. Inspired by US house stars like Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez and Masters At Work, Mendo quickly developed a flair for sexy, pulsating house that caught the ear of legendary Miami-based producer George Morel, who signed Mendo to Groove Records for tracks including, “Everybody I Got Him,” “Do It,” “Never Mind,” “Move On,” and “Tell Me.” This led to releases for labels including, Get Physical, Rekids, Saved, Viva Music, Great Stuff, CR2 and Defected. Mendo also did remixes for his friend Chab’s Imago Records, and in 2003 he and Chab founded Clarisse Records. Mendo released a string of hits on Clarisse including “Play Me With Your Sound” which Roger Sanchez snapped up for Stealth Records.

Thanks to his tireless production work and infectious DJ sound Mendo reached all the right ears. Luciano was so impressed he signed “Remember” EP to Cadenza Records in 2009 and “Encantos” EP in 2010. This was the beginning of an exciting collaboration which has seen Mendo join the Vagabundos to ignite Pacha and Ushuaia in Ibiza. When he’s not running with the Cadenza crew, Mendo is globe-trotting to destinations as diverse as, Japan, South America, USA , Germany and UK, giving fans a chance to soak up his incredible four decks Traktor sets that blend the best of house, live sampling and techno futurism.

Mendo plays at some of the best clubs on the planet: Womb, Tokyo; Panoramabar, Berlin; Cielo, New York; and D-Edge in Sao Paulo. "The key to a successful party is to get girls dancing. Once they dance, everybody does,” Mendo says. “I just want people to have a good time with my music.”

Mendo is currently working on productions including “Stages of Life” EP for Cadenza, and has a packed DJ schedule. But he thrives on pressure. “It is exciting to produce a song, then play in front of thousands of people and make them hysterical,” he says. “DJing is the best job in the world.”

Dani Casarano was born in Morges, by Lake Geneva, near Lausanne, to Italian parents. At 12 years old, he was absorbing hip-hop and acid jazz. He also soaked in the sounds that resounded at home, which featured, among others, Italian composer Ennio Morricone. Taking his destiny into his own hands, at just 14, Dani was inspired by house music and invested in Technics turntables. He also took guitar lessons and learnt musical notation. After leaving school, which he attended with Luciano, he decided to take the trip of a lifetime. The year was 1997 and the country he chose, after receiving an invitation from long-time compadre Luciano, was Chile. Magical, metaphysical, and volcanic, it was not unlike the rolling grooves that he loved and played. And it was here that he first met Ricardo Villalobos, Dandy Jack and Argenis Brito.

Dani soon began making his own productions, a servant to a universal groove. Always approaching electronic music with organic and acoustic elements. Always adapting to new places, faces, ideas and seasonal flavours. Yet always preserving the story and soul of the dance, the foundations of the scene. His debut was a CD album entitled In Transit 8 Track, which he wrote and produced under the alias Tony Mass, released on South American label Sum Records. He also contributed a single called ‘Break Sense’ to the Love Parade Santiago – Chile 2005 compilation on BMG. His first track to land on his beloved vinyl was ‘Oiseaux Sans Ailes’, produced with Ernesto Albacete (Ernie), which came out on Spanish label Deep Explorer in 2006. He then produced the techy, synth-heavy ‘El Zapo Hablo’; ‘the toad speaks’ being a Chilean expression for when everyone knows a secret about you. GONZALEZ & GONZALO - MIX TAPE FEBRUARY 2012

'Rise Of Angel' is the brand new single from Luciano, and the first single to be taken from his forthcoming album, due in 2013.  However, for the many thousands of dedicated music fans who have made the pilgrimage to Luciano's hugely successful parties this Summer in Ibiza (the weekly Ushuaia sessions and Vagabundos at Pacha), or the many Cadenza parties around Europe and North America, 'Rise Of Angel' has already become the signature tune and musical hi-light in Luciano's sets, making its release a highly anticipated moment for the Cadenza faithful.

Clocking in at over 15 minutes, 'Rise Of Angel' is an epic slice of modern electronic dance music, the simply Balearic, synth and piano driven hook gently builds and teases with cinematic intent, the light percussion and organic beats working the old Luciano magic, it's no wonder that 'Rise Of Angel' has become one of the most talked about tracks of the Ibiza season this year.

For the remixes, Luciano has kept it in the family, enlisting the duties of fellow Cadenza artists Mirko Loko, UNER and Andrea Oliva to all lend their unique production styles to a solid set of reinterpretations.  The vinyl 12" is coupled with Mirko Loko's pulsating robotic workout, adding a more beats driven take on Luciano's original, and delving into the bass for a heavyweight techno flecked remix.

And bolstering the digital package, UNER weighs in with a dubbed out, rolling drum version, using the vocal FX to support the groove whilst the pianos ride over the mix, and Andrea Oliva goes straight for the 4/4 jugular with a remix that builds solid tribal beats to a crescendo, adding a new dimension to the Original with a choice vocal section.

'Rise Of Angel' will be Luciano's first release on his own Cadenza label since 2010's Lucien-N-Luciano's 'Cuidad De Luz' EP, and marks the start of another big chapter in his career, having spent the last couple of years building a passionate audience through hundreds of DJ performances around the world, the Vagabundos events and collaborating musically with artists such as Pharrrell (Neptunes) and Lenny Kravitz.  His forthcoming album will be his second full length collection (following 2009's ‘Tribute To The Sun’), and his label, Cadenza Records, will celebrate its 10th anniversary, so the future certainly looks bright for the Chilean producer and DJ.

On this week’s Source to Cycle, we welcome the dons of the deep, Mountain People.  Andre Schmid and Philippe Egger have been masters of the minimal deep house sound since 2006 with the release of the Mountain People project, but their collective history runs deep, with Andre behind the Rozzo pseudonym since 1994, and Philipe the man behind Serafin since the turn of the millennium.  As Mountian People, the duo have gelled together to produce some amazing house music on their Mountain People label, and also DJ together, including a spot at Ushuaia last Summer with Luciano.
