This album started the same way most of my projects do, just me trying to get things out of my head. But it ended up becoming something a lot deeper. It captured one of the hardest times I’ve gone through so far, and honestly, a few of these tracks are just me trying to process everything. There were points where I almost gave up on finishing it because it felt too heavy, but I knew I had to see it through. I also didn’t want to stay stuck in one sound or one genre because that’s never brought me peace. I needed to try new things and let the music go with how I felt. "Great Mass of Distortion" is what came out of that — very messy but i hope you enjoy <3

Purgatory

Before the Tul prayer begins, it is customary to give free rein to violence, shouts, loud and tense music, worshippers letting themselves go and objects being shattered.

This precipitates a particular psychological state that could be likened to deep relaxation: the opening of the inner listening.

The sermon that follows, different each time, revolves around the articulation of apparent contradictions in a style similar to our Taoism. Thus, in the recording we offer you, the first aphorism recites:  

"Supreme peace appears as violence".

This part of the celebration is traditionally accompanied by complex rhythmic music. Each worshipper is invited to dance to the rhythm they perceive, slow for some, fast for others, the whole swirl being considered as supreme harmony, everyone's part of the same ensemble but in a way that is unique to each individual.

Si après tant d'années rien ne nous dit qui est Jacob, ce que l'on sait en revanche, c'est que les deux âmes gardiennes du festival ont le chic pour mettre un point final flamboyant aux festivités, comme c'était le cas l'an dernier, entre euphorie et générosité, transe et partage. Cet after terminal s'annonce une nouvelle fois épique, et les deux enfants de Jacob l'inconnu n'y seront décidément pas pour rien.

Dark Science Electro presents: DCB guest mix

While all of us are living the quarantine life, Good Room has asked friends and residents to share mixes for our Solitude Series so you can dance on your own. The 15th mix comes from R Gamble. Originally hailing from Memphis, TN and now operating out of Brooklyn, DJ and producer R Gamble has been a staple of NYC underground music for close to a decade. With an ear bent towards leftfield analog electronics for the dancefloor, he founded label and party crew Lost Soul Enterprises, who now hold ongoing residencies at Good Room and The Lot Radio. He has released his own industrial synth-driven cuts on labels such as Primitive Languages, Mannequin, and Public System Recordings. Here's what he had to say about the mix;

"I'm not usually a huge junk food person. But since quarantine began I've started eating a lot of Cheetos™. They're amazing, and I think their newfound presence in my life definitely influenced the selections in this mix. Faced with the daily barrage of depressing and infuriating news, we need now more than ever to take refuge in the comforts of a few guilty pleasures. So with that in mind, I put together a cheesy, breezy montage of synth pop, dubbed-out punk disco, and assorted cosmic sleaze. Dig in and enjoy!"
