The general trend being observed in Hollywood is that for black actors and actresses, critical acclaim is limited to the portrayal of specific roles. Whereas acclaim for their white counterparts comes in roles and characters that lack racial storylines, for black professionals, it seems difficult to escape these labels and roles. But to whom should the blame be ascribed? Some say the actors who continue accepting these roles, others place blame on the consumers, and there are those who say that the executives are to blame for not pushing for minority performers to take roles outside of race issues.
