Copenhagen Jazz Cats  // Mixed and compiled by Jabar

To celebrate the launch of the Pasteelo x Thomas Pålsson collaboration, @jabarligla has dug deep into the crates to put together a mixtape that pays homage to the Copenhagen jazz scene in the 60s - especially a tribute to three Copenhagen jazz cats: Allan Botschinsky, Bjarne Rostvold and NHØP.

"Allan Botschinsky, Bjarne Rostvold and NHØP - all three essential cornerstones of the Danish jazz heritage (among other legends of course). They played together as a trio, but also in many other different constellations and had their own solo careers - extremely gifted jazz cats. So gifted that the whole world opened its eyes to what was happening on the Copenhagen jazz scene. It became a melting pot in the 60s, to which many of the great jazz legends from the US and beyond contributed... the rest is history.

The premise of this mix is ​​that at least one of the three jazz cats is credited on every track - which means that many other jazz musicians are also represented in the mix.. People like Jørn Elniff, Bent Axen, Sahib Shihab, Alex Riel, Ole Kock Hansen, Jørn Grauengaard, Hugo Rasmussen to name just a few.

Allan Botschinsky, Bjarne Rostvold and NHØP's careers transformed over the years from the earlier post bebop years to hard bop up through the early 60s, on to a more soul/funk and mainstream jazz sound in the late 60s and 70s, even children's music in between and further into the 80s fusion..

In this mix I have chosen to focus exclusively on the early years, when they primarily played hard bop, but there will also be a few detours and an ending in a psychedelic bathtub.. enjoy!" - Jabar.

Hip hop, and you don't stop: this Carhartt WIP radio show brings you Chopped Herring Records, founded in 2001 in Manchester by collector, rare vinyl eBay merchant, and DJ Bob Lipitch aka Pro Celebrity Golf aka Chubby Grooves. Since the beginning his label releases limited edition hip hop vinyl - never released before recordings from back in the day and new music from today's artists - always dope and fresh. The „Three Sinister Syllables“ LP by the artists Pro Celebrity Golf and Jay Glaze from 2004 is probably the record, that put the UK label on the global hip hop map. Others artists from their big roster include old and current stars like Action Bronson, Masta Ace or Stetsasonic, as well as new names like Epidemic from South Florida, Timeless Truth from NYC or US duo OG Aborigines amongst many others. Die Tapefabrik ist zurück ! Nach der erfolgreichen Erstauflage, ist das einzigartige Event rund um deutschen Rap von der beschaulichen Domstadt Limburg in die hessische Landeshauptstadt Wiesbaden gezogen. Im Schlachthof Wiesbaden, einer der fettesten Konzerthallen die Hessen zu bieten hat, werden sich die zur Zeit wohl einflussreichsten Künstler der deutschen Rapszene, die Klinke in die Hand geben. 

Ob Mach One der mit seinem am 30. August erscheinenden Album schon jetzt für Aufruhe sorgt, Retrogott und Hulk Hodn, die als Solokünstler und auch als Duo "Huss&Hodn" im gesamten deutschsprachigen Raum mit der freshesten Liveshow überzeugten oder "die Bestesten", das Projekt der mit Morlockk Dilemma, Hiob, Audio88, Yassin und Ecke Prenz wohl versiertesten Rapper Deutschlands. Noch dazu werden die Artists von Veteranen wie Pierre Sonality und Pitvalid, sowie der Eypro Crew, bestehend aus Djin, 3Plusss, Clayne, Sorgenkind, Splifftastic und donetasy, sowie von Weekend, Projekt Gummizelle, Jephza, Eloquent und vielen anderen unterstützt.

Wenn die voraussichtlich rund 1500 Besucher aus allen Teilen Deutschlands anreisen erwartet sie auf zwei Bühnen volles Programm, denn hinter der Tapefabrik steht nicht nur das erlesene Line-Up, sondern das Team des Kreativstudios betreibt wie immer auch mit viel Liebe zum Detail großen Aufwand für das Bühnenbild und die Raumgestaltung - wie bei der Erstauflage, beginnt kurz nach dem Eingang die alte, heruntergekommene Fabrik. 

Diese Atmosphäre wird nicht nur am Abend selbst wirken. Wie schon beim letzten mal wird die gesamte Veranstaltung aufwendig von einer Vielzahl Kameras begleitet, deren Material zusammen mit hochwertige Tonaufnahmen des Konzertes verwendet wird um die Veranstaltung auch für jeden der nicht vor Ort sein kann unvergesslich zu machen.

Das Konzept ist klar: Der Aufbau, die Außenwirkung, die einzigartigen Künstler: Diese Kombination ist es - was die Tapefabrik #3 am 14.12.2012 im Schlachthof Wiesbaden vor allem zu einem macht - einem Abend den man nicht verpassen sollte.
